Cats! Cats! Cats!

Hello everyone, I'm back! This is the first time that I have written here in such a long time. I haven't done much lately. Since I last posted all I've done is get married, go on a honeymoon, take a different job, move twice and now... we HAVE ANOTHER CAT!!!! That may not be the most important event, but for the purposes of this, ahem, Online Magazine, our new cat is the important news that I will be talking about today.

You probably remember Jags and Theo. Our boys.

Well, last weekend, SBG and I went to the cat store to get more food for the boys and there was a cute little kitten there. We absolutely couldn't resist her, and so we adopted our third cat. SBG posted a picture from his cell phone last week and I have a couple of pictures that I took with a disposable camera to show you. The story today isn't so much the pictures, but the tumultuous week that the cats had adjusting to each other.

But, first a picture of Eleanor Rigby ("Elly").

Elly is very affectionate. As you can see, she likes to play with cat toys. She also seeks a tremendous amount of attention from SBG & I (especially SBG -- I don't understand why the cats love him so much!!!!). She has, as the vet told me, a very strong "purrbox." The little thing is purring constantly when she is near either one of us.

Unfortunately, she didn't like the boys very much when we brought her home. She hissed and growled and screeched whenever they came near. Poor boys. She was in all their favorite places, and when they tried to join her, she gave them the third degree. The first couple of days were absolutely no fun. I wanted to take her back, really I did. SBG said to wait. Jags made his feelings known to me on Sunday morning. He crawled up on me in bed and growled and hissed. He never does that. I thought it was quite interesting that he communicated like that. Poor Jags.

As the week went along, the growling and hissing slowly subsided. Theo was a trooper. He is so mild mannered and kind. He spent a lot of time near Elly and seemed to be saying to her, "It's all right. We won't hurt you. We want to be your friends." Here's a picture of Elly and Theo together.

Elly is so energetic, and so is Theo. The two are playing together quite well. I am a little concerned that Jags is going to be left out. But Theo's been roughhousing with Jags all week, too. Theo has really been the glue between all of the cats. Jags seems to be less than thrilled with Elly, but Theo's been so good for both of them. Here's a picture of Theo licking Elly... a good sign if there ever was one.

Now a week later, Theo and Elly are playing like you wouldn't believe. Their interaction is terrific. Elly still hisses a little, but they've been pretty good.

In the end, I realize what a great little cat we have in Theo. He's so even tempered and socialable. He interacts well with our great and temperamental cat, Jags, and our little diva, Elly.

Just a couple more shots of Theo. One morning he was rolling around on top of the cat tower like a little model. We got some pictures, but again only had the point and click available. By the time we got the digital, he was done. SBG did get a couple on his phone, but that doesn't provide a flash. Sigh. We need a digital camera at the ready all the time!

Don't you just love him????

That's it for this week.

Love, Lucy

Lucy - those were so much FUN!!! I'm glad you're back to posting Saturday kitty pictures, too! That little girl is a beauty. She looks like a long, lean kitty. She is beautiful and I can see why you decided to take her home. The other two are cute, too, of course. A new cat entering the household does cause for some interesting times. It's funny that Jags got up in the bed and spat at you. They know who's responsible:)
Luckily, after a time, they do get used to each other. I was worried with my cats, when Sgt Mango came to live with us, but after they finally simmered down, I realized most cats can learn to get along with other cats... and with dogs.

I'm glad to hear that the cats are learning to get along. Cheers for Theo!
