Go Ahead, Kick Me While I’m Down

March 16th, 2006 by SBG

Got a call from my old buddy Leo today. He was asking about the new job and we chatted for awhile. Then he asked me how I could stand the NBA. Leo lives in a big college town and is a big college BB guy.

We chatted about b-ball for awhile before he had to take off. Yes, friends, I'm an NBA guy and a T-Wolves guy and a KG guy. This means one thing. It's been a tough year. Very tough. I think however, I've hit rock bottom. From ESPN.COM regarding last night's Laker game -- another loss:

"I should have taken some more shots and I should have been a lot more aggressive than I was," said Garnett, who was 4-for-14 from the field. "But I'm not going to take anything away from Kwame [Brown]. He's out there working hard, just like I'm out there working hard."

This may be the most discouraging thing that I have ever read.

I'm getting the impression that KG has actually started to pack it in for the season.

He pours his heart and soul into being one of the top players in the NBA, with the goal of winning an NBA championship. Now, after the disaster that was last season, he has had to deal with a season that was even worse (I don't think he thought it would be possible). On top of that, he's had to deal with the death of a close friend in Kirby Puckett.

I actually felt really sorry for the guy as I was watching the game last night. He must just be totally psychologically spent at this point.

Sorry, the LTE form is closed at this time.
