Although the announcement tomorrow is not related to roster status, this move is directly related to the announcement.

What could it be? The best bet seems to be that Bartlett tested positive for steroids. Or earned some other demotion through his actions off the field. Or maybe a coach or manager is getting fired? What else would we "not believe?

Not related to roster status or players being moved. The steroids allegation seems plausible. Although I still am somewhat skeptical due to the confirmed April 1st announcement.
Guess we'll just have to wait & see.

Good work creating suspense SBG.

Announcement is not related to roster status, but directly related to Bartlett's demotion. I'd gusss that the announcement is that Gardy's a moron, but we all already knew that.

This is what gets me about SBG's "news," he initially said: "We talked for a long time about the news, what it would mean for the Twins, their fans, and frankly to the blogging community. Frankly, it is a little bit stunning."

If it's that Bartlett tested positive for 'roids, then I don't know why you would really need to talk about that for a really long time. The discussion would seem to be: well, "Bartlett's going to be gone for a really long time, and Castro and Punto suck as alternatives, so this is a big blow to the team." I don't know what that would really have to do with the blogging community in particular.

There is the issue that Bartlett made it a point to get stronger this offseason rather than play winter ball, but that's hardly enough information to make us think he took performance enhancing drugs.

At this point though, I'm almost certainly going to be disappointed by the news, given all of this hype.

For now, given the information I have in front of me, it seems like this move could've been made because it'll be easier to get Bartlett back on the 25-man roster once he's healthy by putting him in AAA rather than putting him on the DL.

Hmmm.

Interesting point ubelmann. I had forgotten the specifics of SBG's statement.
So maybe, the news is, Bartlett got sent down, JUST TO SPITE all of the bloggers out there with their "statistical analysis" and "common sense." That's right, just to spite you all we will suffer through a Batista/Castro left side of the infield. We may even bat them 1/2 in the lineup to get them as many atbats as possible.

That would satisfy all of the above criteria I believe.

All I know, if it's an April Fools Joke, I may have to toilet paper SBG's house...

Maybe Gardy's going to annoint himself shortstop and become a player-manager.
