Regarding the Fran Foley situation over at Winter Park:
Those few of us in the local sporting press who don't start the day with a large glass of purple Kool-Aid have been trying to tell Vikings fans that nothing about Foley smelled right.
A large glass of PURPLE Kool-Aid! To whom is Top Jimmy referring, exactly? Grandpa Sports? Because that's dangerous territory.
Oh, and it's good to see that nothing's changed with the Vikes. Another embarrassment, except I'm wondering who is embarrassed. The Vikings are seemingly made of the same Teflon material on the roof. No amount of tomfoolery will ever turn off the rabid Vikings fans. They'll still plunk down what $800 for their season tickets (or more). They'll still watch every game. And the Vikings organization doesn't seem capable of being embarrassed.

You just don't get it SBG. You don't worship at the altar that is the NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE (as we're reminded by shouting jackasses 70 or 80 times per week on ESPN). As if there's any ambiguity regarding which league it is to which they're referring.
The NFL is above reproach. Their players, although grotesquely oversized, are above suspicion of performance-enhancing drugs. And Minnesota is simply another football town. Around July, that city quits thinking baseball and starts flocking to Vikings mini-camps. Even when the Twins are in first place.
I honestly like football. I'm a Miami Dolphins fan living in South Dakota. But the deification of the NFL is something that turns me off more and more each year. I paid for the NFL Sunday Ticket for almost 10 years, but quit two years ago. It finally just became too much. It is our modern-day Roman coliseum, where we watch athletes destroy their bodies for the amusement of the mob. And to the victor go the spoils of fame, wealth, and even worship.
It's becoming more distasteful to me each year.
Who the hell is Fran Foley?
He's the guy the Vikings hired to run the draft. He fudged large parts of his resume and apparently had an abrasive management style. Apparently, he didn't do such a great job on the draft, either, so he got fired after a couple of months.
