Tuesday Night’s Game
May 9th, 2006 by SBG
I'm here watching the game and online. It's the top of the first and the Twins have two runs already -- and Hunter is red hot with an RBI single. And believe it or not, Cuddyer(!!!!!!!!!!!) doubled in a run, too! This is an open chat.
And Morneau homers and it is 5-0!
What about this lineup? L-Rod leading off and playing third? Ford and Cuddyer in the outfield? And the onslaught continues in the first. Ford triples and Castro singles him home and it's 6-0 after a half inning.
Can you fricking believe Cuddyer? Two more doubles tonight in the first two innings.
Update: Three fucking doubles in the first three innings for Cuddyer. Nick, I'd watch out. I believe he's about to avenge every harsh word ever said about him.

I love this lineup! Rodriguez at third, and his OBP at the top of the lineup. Ford and Cuddyer both playing, with Ford near the bottom of the lineup.
And seriously, I thought all this before the runs.

Addendum: If Stewart was DH'ing instead of White, I'd be ecstatic, but that's asking too much.

I'm hoping against hope that L-Rod starts playing a whole lot more at third.

Bert with the obligatory "The Twins are Outstanding Defensively" comment.

and he's not wearing any underwear!
SBG replied on May 9, 2006 at 7:32:40 pm
but he might be tomorrow... and nothing else.

I think I might have a NSMC on Cuddy.

It's official. Everybody hits. White with an RBI single.
Beau replied on May 9, 2006 at 7:53:18 pm
If Stewart's in left, the Rangers have two runs right now.
SBG replied on May 9, 2006 at 7:54:22 pm
You got that right. Very nice play by Ford.

Puckett has team record for most doubles in a single game - 4 against Blue Jays, 5/13/89. Go Michael.
The Rondell juggernaut begins to build a head of steam.
Moss replied on May 9, 2006 at 8:43:52 pm
That groundout back to the pitcher in the third by RonDL was just ridiculous. He seems to have lost any knowledge of the strike zone that he might have had when he arrived.
Most everything else is roses tonite. Cuddyer is the guy. Morneau looking like he has an approach. Hunter is definitely Toriid right now. Except he usually jacks it out of the park a few times during his annual week-long streak. Has he done that lately??
Moss is hoping Silva can patch together another fair inning or two.

Two homers in May for Toreye-eye.

Does anyone else hate the "Refreshed Fan Forum." Nearly everyone they interview basically sounds like a Gardenhire clone.

Castro is a fucking defensive wizard. Pardon my French.
mini_tb replied on May 9, 2006 at 8:54:24 pm
I haven't heard anyhting intelligent in the fan forum all season. Silva stinks.
SBG replied on May 9, 2006 at 8:56:53 pm
Castro's got four charged errors. Then, there are the three in that one game that he wasn't charged with. If you count just those three (uncharged ones), he's on pace for 35 errors.
mini_tb replied on May 9, 2006 at 8:57:57 pm
Yes, but he is a better leader on the field than Bartlett.

Bert: "We always talk about the draft from time to time"
frightwig replied on May 9, 2006 at 9:14:57 pm
The bitch about the Cuddyer situation, for me, is that I drafted him for my fantasy team, thinking he was due for a breakout year and would be particularly valuable in my lineup as a 2nd baseman. But I had to cut him after a couple weeks because he was riding the pine, Gardy was telling the press that Cuddy 'had his chance,' and I needed help with other areas of my team. Now he's playing, swinging the hot bat I'd hoped to see--and somebody else in the league snagged him over the weekend, while I was leading a real life.
Fuck you, Gardy. Fuck you.

Bert just said that Alfonseca has 6 fingers AND 6 toes on each hand.
SBG replied on May 9, 2006 at 9:24:55 pm
frightwig, I'll have none of that language here! The name is ScruFi!
Moss replied on May 9, 2006 at 9:26:57 pm
That's a crowded hand.
mini_tb replied on May 9, 2006 at 9:53:12 pm
God damn, it's results like that opposite field HR that make you hope Morneau is for real.
Moss replied on May 9, 2006 at 11:04:38 pm
How come no substitutions by the Twins in this game??

The starters needed more BP?
Moss replied on May 9, 2006 at 11:19:51 pm
Yeah, and so did Batista. Might have done him some good to get some swings against those chuckers. And it wouldn't have hurt to get Redmond into the game towards the end.
BigTicketFan replied on May 10, 2006 at 12:10:41 am
Go Cuddy!
Nick N. replied on May 10, 2006 at 1:29:41 am
Cuddyer has been a very pleasant surprise. Admittedly, I had given up hope for the guy. Kudos to him, I hope he keeps it up. He's looking phenomenal right now.
