Johan is pitching and that's enough to want to watch the game.

Johan pitching means the bottom of the innings will be worth watching.

The top? Eh.

Seriously, this is the lineup? At least Castro's not in it.

SS Punto
2B Castillo
C Mauer
CF Hunter
RF Cuddyer
1B Morneau
DH Tiffee
3B Batista
LF Kubel

Hey! No Rondell White! :)

Whiffers replied on June 2nd, 2006 at 8:27 pm

Great point.

With Punto set to lead-off the game in less than 30 minutes, it is time for beer.

Hey, but for the first time in years, our #9 spot isn't a black hole!

When Kielty gets a hit off of Santana, is Gleeman happy or upset?

I had lunch with my old colleague Drew today. We were talking about how Bremer said all Thomas has done is hit home runs. And now he's hit a home run in back-to-back nights and has 13 dingers (and 28 walks) this year. Meanwhile, the Twins have zero homeruns from a DH that started the game on the season.

No other AL team has fewer than 7 HR from the DH spot (starters, not pinch hitters).

spycake -- ugh.

"All he does is hit homers."

That's like Buddy Ryan saying, "All Cris Carter does is catch touchdowns."

We need some damned runs!

this is a frickin shame. what a disgrace our line-up is.

i know tiffee is pretty bad at defense but is he really worse then tony ba?

Whiffers replied on June 2nd, 2006 at 10:34 pm

I'm shocked that this lineup hasn't put any runs on the board, absolutely shocked.

Did Bremer really say that about Thomas? I assume he didn't say "all the Twins DH does is hit weak grounders and popups" along with that.

Beau replied on June 2nd, 2006 at 10:37 pm

Morneau!

A big two run shot from Morneau -- he must have heard me.

Did Bremer really say that about Thomas? About 10 seconds before he hit his home run last night.

What a f*cking joke of an announcing team we have to deal with in this market...make that teams with the CCO crews. That comment there seals it for me.

Great job by Morneau to lift that ball out of the park.

In my experience, the radio announcers are way better than the TV crew. Of course, being without cable TV, I don't really have a choice!

Whiffers, this is the exact quote:

As the Twins were in the market during the offseason for some help in the DH spot, Thomas was one of the names considered. And Thomas has hit some home runs, he's hit 11 of them, but that's about all he's done. (Two pitches later:) Thomas with 34 hits, 11 home runs, 3 doubles. That's hit a long way. Number twelve for Frank Thomas.

I transcripted more from Thursday night here.
