Game 160: She-Cago White Sox at Minnesota Twins
Posted by SBG on Friday, September 29th, 2006 at 4:14 pm
Your best buddy SBG will be at the game. Prior to the game, I'll be meeting up with SBGer Geoff, who's in town from Utah for the game.
I wonder that the odds are that I'll see an A.J. bat flip. Heh.

Good news, if the Twins play the Yanks in the ALDS, then I'm definitely going to Game One. The only hang-up I have right now is how to get from DC to Frederick, MD to meet up with a Yankee fan offering me a ride, but I'm sure I'll overcome that.
You could take the MARC train.
Only runs in that direction during the afternoon and we're planning on leaving Frederick around 11a to get to the Stadium nice and early.
Wait a minute, can't a pirate just pillage himself the requisite transport? Is that not one of the prerogatives of piracy?
The name was the important thing for inspiring the necessary fear. You see, no one would surrender to the Dread Pirate Will.
Plus, I saved a bundle on my car insurance.
I would not say such things if I were YOU, Dread Pirate Will!
Well, I thought everyone would be excited since the Twins have yet to lose in my presence in 2006.
I'm not above superstition. This sounds like a good development to me.
For my part, I'm saving my softball cap (currently on an 8-0 run in softball) in case the Twins face an elimination game. Then the cap comes out.
From Page 2's David Schoenfield.
It's great to see Twitchy McXanax get some well-deserved props.
Moss prefers "Twitch 'n' Pitch"
Another day off for Castillo; another DH start for Tyny.
At least Boof did what he could to make that a solo HR by Dye.
The Tyner DH thing has always been ridiculous. I just hope Gardy doesn't continue this asinine trend into the playoffs. You can't seriously start Jason Tyner at DH against the Yanks.
Pickoff - nice weapon to own.
I put that HR almost all on Dye. The pitch was breaking down in the zone and it didn't look hanging at all to me. Nice piece of hitting by Dye.
Agreed. That looked like a great pitch.
Detriot murdering KC again
There is nothing more lovely to see than AJ striking out. Go Boof!
Time to rock 'n roll.
If our DH was only a little more like other famous line-drive hitting thin guys: Brady Anderson, Luis Gonzalez, and others.
Unit back spasms - sweet music.
Garcia is pitching well so far.
Injury delay is all MLB says - anyone know who/what is th' problem?
Great crowd. It really does look like a sell out. Hopefully Boof gets out of this leadoff 2B.
Don't run on Cuddy.
Damn.
L'Rod - Bueno. Now for Senhor Mauer.
7I: Det 5 KC 3 - ruh roh.
Perkins up in the pen.
2H in 5I. Ahem.
Offense needs to come back. Enuff with the vacation.
Hey, our piranhta wanna-be leads off this inning! Bunt for a hit!
shoulda listened to me.
Blech. C'mon White.
Freddie Cabrera pretty much in control tonight.
This is getting pretty sad. I realize Garcia had two great games this year, but take away those starts and he has an ERA around 5, has given up 32 homers, and minus those innings, has given up 221 hits in 194 innings. We should be beating him around.
All the hand-wringing over starting rotation and pitching order for the post season, but (as always) I'm still more concerned with the (too often) lack of offense that can plague the Twins often.
Bonser only had 70p.
Yea, but that was a DEEP ground out by the DH.
Your right; and don't forget that Tyner busted his tail out there and that's what DHs are supposed to do. Everyone else just misunderstands the concept.
Flip that.
Francisco Liriano as a soft-tossing ex-Gofer?
Laura Croft ist soft-towel ex-Gofer?
I thought she was a tomb raider?
More damned like it, Li'l L-Rod!
That's the third or fourth out Cuddyer has run into this week.
Expected runs: at least one. Atta boy, Cuddy. You ARE the Hottest Chick.
Not sure what cuddy was thinking there. Not even close.
arrgh.
Jeez. Isn't it time for Garcia to hit the showers? Gotta get the youngsters some PT, Ozzie!
Perkins is looking pretty nasty. A few strikeouts, getting out lefties. The Twins should dump Silva and keep this guy on the postseason roster.
I'm not sure they CAN dump active guys who were on the roster as of the end of August. Just guys who are on the DL.
Glencisco!
Put Perkins on the postseason roster already. Seriously. Now. I demand it.
One thing Gardy has shown a propensity for is putting a rookie callup on the postseason roster when he's been hot. I think Perkins might have a good shot.
Glencisco is dealin'.
Anyone agree? Perkins in the postseason, eh?
Seems the consensus is yes and I can think of lots of good reasons why: Damon, Cano, Giambi, Matsui...
5-4 Tigers in the 9th, 2 outs. Buck vs. Jones. Buck. Jones. Buck Jones?
Whoa. Royals making it very interesting.
Heh. Royals tie it up, Jones blows the save.
Buck with a single. First and third. It's down to the Angel and the Badman.
Oh. SHANE Costa PHs.
Shane Costa's Jones the save.
Yea! Cy Garcia hits the showers.
Who is this "Nevin" clown?
Bases juiced in Detwah, 2 outs. 5-5.
A Nevin sighting!
It's playoff time for Ozzie and all his sons.
The mass murderer cannot get it done in Detroit. Going to the bottom of the 9th tied.
Man, it's lonely around here. Where are all the fair-weather fans?
Piling on some pre-post-season sleep. It's going to be a long few weeks...
Good answer. +25 karma points, Rhu_Ru.
Advice to "Sampler": hit 'im. Practice setting up the DP.
Tigers pull an Ullger. Clevlen hosed at the plate -- by a mile -- on a shallow pop fly out. Going to the 10th now, still 5-5.
Damn. Too bad we aren't leading. AJ for the last out would be perfect.
Seriously, post-season is going to screw up my work schedule, my circadian rhythm, I'll probably end up irregular and take up
smokingpacing the floor, and I'm going to need to apologize beforehand for using foul language at inappropriate times, but damn it - we worked hard to get to this point!Let's get EVERYONE involved here, Ron.
You know, somehow the Sox will use any success from this final series as "proof" that they're still the better team. Well, AJ will, at least.
Well, on paper they are far more talented, you know.
Ha! +10, and you can put it on the board...YES!
Would it be ok if Crain beans AJ over at first, just for old times' sake?
too late. answer would have been "yes" though

Gah! No kidding!

Last chance for Mauer to get off the schneid here.

E6 - replied to the wrong comment.
Bobby Pigpen! Excellent.
Cano 1-4 tonight. Jeter 2-4.
WHY IS PUNTO SENT TO SECOND?!?!
Better walk Li'l L-Rod to set up the GIDP, Pigpen!
Two nights in a row too much to hope for?
too damn anxious; horrible pitch, horrible call
We got ourselves a ballgame again!
another strikeout on a pitch in the dirt.
These guys are unbelievable.
Magic. That's the only word.
