• Twins lose. Season done. Sigh.
• Tigers lead Yanks 3-0 in the fifth. Not all is wrong with the world, at least at this minute.
What'll you have?

Before we get started talking about all the things the Twins did wrong in the playoffs, and all the things they need to do next year, let's take a minute or two to remember how great this year was. Remember how down we all were on them in April and May, and how in early June things turned around. How we didn't really expect them to get back in the race, but were just happy to see them playing good baseball again. And then, how they all of a sudden got back into the race, and we still didn't really think they'd have enough to make the playoffs, but we were happy that they'd at least made it interesting. And then, all of a sudden, they took over the wild card lead, and then they took the wild card, and we thought, well, it'd be neat if they could win the division, but it isn't going to happen. And then, suddenly, on the last day of the season, they did win the division.
Let's remember how happy we were on Sunday, just five days ago, and what an incredible, improbable, wonderful season this was. So we ended with a three-game losing streak. Sure, it would have been great to go on, but it was still a great season. We'll have all winter to talk about next year. Let's remember some of the great things about this year.
It looks like A-Rod has the Yankees so screwed up tonight that none of them can do anything.
Being there on Sunday was my World Series. I sat stunned for a good half hour after the loss today, but it's hard to forget the fantastic turn of events that went on this year. Let's go A's!
I feel like I'm more disappointed with this postseason than previous ones just because the team this year was better than the ones from '02-'04. Oh well, it's just three games I suppose.
I'm sure I'll be back on the horse watching more baseball tomorrow.
This is a lot more disappointing than the previous seasons because, 1) as you said, this team was so much better, 2) coming back to clinch the division after being written off in June, and 3) (and this one is probably only personal) sitting in a bar in Chicago with my Twins cap on while a bunch of White Sox fans look a me with smirks on their faces.
Putting it all in perspective, this was an unbelievable season. From thinking about who we should dump in order to be competitive "next year", to contemplating whether it was better to play the A's or the Yankees in the first round of playoffs, I feel lucky to have watched such a great group of guys play the game. This team really reminded me why I love this game, and I look forward to watching them again next year.
On a side note, I'm also glad to have found this site to follow along with the games. For us out here in the diaspora, it's a welcome place that we don't get in the local taverns.
