Life in SBG Manor

Posted by SBG on Thursday, February 15th, 2007 at 10:49 pm

I haven't really written much lately about life with a pregnant wife. I'm really waiting until next week to start talking about the 2007 Twins in earnest, so I thought I'd talk about life tonight.

Lucy is about two months away from the due date. In fact, Saturday will be exactly two months from the due date. If BabySBG shows up on the due date, I'll be missing Game 14 at Seattle. Of course, that's a late night start, so maybe I'll catch it? If not, ubelmann, you'll have to run the game log. :) (Moss, I'm not stupid, of course I'll miss a few games.)

Lucy has been doing quite well. One of the things I worried about was whether Lucy would have a difficult pregnancy. She's a little older than the average woman who has a baby, but she's been doing great. She's been buying things for the Baby. Want to see a sample? I knew you did.

Can you read that? How about a close up?

That girl is going to be well-dressed.

We've been taking birthing and parenting classes and tonight was the last class. I recommend these classes. I've learned quite a bit.

I have painted BabySBG's room pink. It looks pretty good. It looks good and isn't Pepto Bismol pink, but rather a little more understated.

This weekend, Lucy has a baby shower being thrown by my sisters in law. Next weekend, her friends are throwing her a shower. The weekend after that, we are heading to Winona for a shower thrown by her family. People are really excited about this baby. We have both waited a very long time. In addition, our baby will be the first baby in Lucy's extended family in about 15 years and my in-law's first grandchild. So, they are really excited. Of course, on my side of the family it's not quite the same. At one point, there were six cousins pregnant at the same time. Two of those kids are now born, but four of us are left. So, take a number.

Time is flying by. We are enjoying it immensely. I've been plugging away at the website on a regular basis, but I've been quite busy elsewhere. This has really been an increasingly minor part of my life. Nevertheless, I still have enough time to keep the WGOM humming along.

Have a good Friday everyone. I'm hoping to plunk out a couple of Top 40 VORP entries this weekend. The next two entries are an old timer and a much more recent player.

Nice. Is that embroidered? (If so, alert Uni Watch.) Seriously, best wishes to you, Lucy and the bundle.

ps--Saw that I'm listed as an SBG citizen. Cool, though if these were the NBA standings, I'd be the Grizzlies. (Still, I'd have a chance at Oden or Durant, however.) Look forward to following the local 9 (25) with the rest of the SBG citizenry.

It is embroidered! Lucy goes all out. Well, if she would have gone all out, she would have done it herself.

With any luck I'll be able to start the game log for #14 on my way to the game! I'm sure I'll be excited to see the Twins playing, but probably not as excited as you if your daughter is being born that day.

I found that there was a lot of down time at the hospital. It would have been nice to have a game or two to catch in the days after birth.

The problem was that the hospital replaced FSN with "the Parenting Channel".

I'm sure the hospital has wireless access -- bring your laptop with you. Starting to be curious who Stick-and-Ball Gal's favorite player will be. I'm guessing she'll pick someone more her size; Punto, for example.

"Moss, I’m not stupid, of course I’ll miss a few games."

Moss' wife was sure to have the first-born out well in advance of the University of Kentucky basketball game that evening. (Her obsession, not Moss'.) A person just has to get their priorities in order.

Of course, the first thing I think of when I read you're going to Winona in just over two weeks is "Oh hey, he gets to have some Bloedow's soon."

Will Baby SBG be referred to as the FOTF or will there be a moratorium on the phrase?

That would at least be "FotB" here; I kinda like it actually.

We're just under three months out from The Kid part II. I'm hoping for uneventful births for you guys and us guys.

(I'm caught on video requesting my wife to hurry up due to an upcoming Twins game when The Kid part I arrived.)
