I can see I'll be staying up past my bedtime every night from now on just to see what the new video is. What a great feature.
A while back there was a discussion on Hall Worthy players and the initial class of Hall of Famers. The performers in the first class (elected in 1986) of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame were:
Chuck Berry
James Brown
Ray Charles
Sam Cooke
Fats Domino
The Everly Brothers
Buddy Holly
Jerry Lee Lewis
Little Richard
Elvis Presley
Who's in your RnR HoF initial class?
Chuck Berry
Elvis
James Brown
Jerry Lee Lewis
LIttle Richard
And Robert Johnson gets in as a pioneer. I don't know if that's the group I'd put in or not... just a quick list.
No, you have to include Ray Charles and Sam Cooke too. And probably Buddy Holly.
But the question is about who to put into the first class in 1986, so I don't think you should confine your attention to just acts that gained prominence in the 1950s.
That means you absolutely have to include the Beatles, Stones, Beach Boys, Bob Dylan and probably Jimi Hendrix in that first group.
in the "contributors" category, Berry Gordy, Les Paul, Leo Fender, George Martin. Damn. My list is getting pretty big.
Wow. Those go-go dancers can really move.
That's beautiful stuff. Go-go dancers in glass cages. Groovy. That was part of the reason that I picked this particular clip of Chuck.
It's probably for the best that Mr. Berry didn't get to use any of his "restroom footage" for his videos.
That said, Chuck still kicks it. Anyone who can make Keef Richards as uncomfortable as a school boy is cool in my book.
