2007 Game 39: Minnesota Twins at Cleveland

Carlos Silva vs. Captain Cheeseburger Sabathia
Is it a bad time to mention that Carlos Silva's xFIP is 4.79, and that he's currently sporting an unsustainable 5.9% HR/F and an unsustainable 82.4% LOB%?
Meanwhile, Sabathia's been pitching like an ace. 10.1 K/G against 1.7 BB/G? Yikes. He's a bit of a flyball pitcher, but it's not like that's been holding back Johan.
I'd feel a lot better about Silva's chances if this was an eating contest.

"I’d feel a lot better about Silva’s chances if this was an eating contest."
That would be a match-up for the ages.
Nice to see Heintz getting the start. Give Redmond a break against those tough lefties... wait, he his lefties better??? Can that be right? Heintz may very well have a platoon split as well, but it seems like an odd time to take Redmond out.
Redmond's right-handed. He's got fairly normal platoon splits.
But this certainly doesn't make a lot of sense for the night to break Heintz into the lineup. Gardy has been riding Naked BP pretty hard lately.
I know he does... just a tongue-in-cheek comment about Twins' hitters. My only thought is that Redmond's days off while a regular shouldn't coincide with facing a LHP.
God does not want to see Captain Cheeseburger eat LNP. Rain delay.
Hey! Bartlett batting second again tonight (if there IS a tonight).
First pitch expected 6:40 CT according to LEN3.
cr@p. Cuddy unable to get Bart home from third with one out. MVP up, down 0-2.

Nine pitch inning for Silva. You'd think that would be a good thing. But he did get three groundball outs.
Attababe Punto.
Heinz trying to catch up to teammates in base-running gaffes.

CC beans CC.
Ok, I'm done for the night, kids. Karate testing. My son is testing for his 1st-deg brown belt tonight (and daughter testing for, uhh, green?).
how 'bout a baseball brawl?! Morny just got plunked up around the head.
Karate Kid and a sequel?
I'm still trying to get one to wax on and the other to wax off.
wax off
That would be wane, i.e. to wane gibbous.
*crickets chirping at the WGOM*
Nicky has taken to the 9-hole.
Gladden and Gordo lobbying for Slowey's promotion.
(I kinda feel like I'm talking to myself. Nothing out of the ordinary, really.)
Dazzle: "Carlos is getting frustrated."
E-6 "How do you think I feel?"
E-6 - your support team has arrived. O.K. Breathe deeply and think about your happy space.
Hey!
Breathe deeply and think about your happy space.
Found it.
Very nice. Much happier than the Guggh.
Lately I have been visiting Canadian galleries to check out Group of Seven works. My favorite is in McMichael Gallery, in Kleinburg, Ont. (15 min drive out of Toronto)
Looks like a fine happy place to me.
Was listening out in the back yard - did CC retaliate for the bunt earlier?
He hit Doc, not Bartlett. I find it funny that he takes it personally when bunted against because he's a poor fielder. I got some advice for CC, "Drop some weight, big fella. You'll move around a bit better."
CC-pathway: Hmmm, skip the veal saltimbocca, or bean that cat. Easy call.
+10 lbs
Opportunity here for a triple-play.
*pulls the plastic off the adhesive on the Neshek patch*
We'll take that DP any day of the week.
Can bad-base running be contagious? Maybe the Twins are carriers.
Peralta is losing his (hacking)mass appeal.
Well, the Fat Bastard is pitching a helluva game.
DePaula gets a cuppa joe.
NXNW?
Roger Thornhill, himself. A classic in every sense of the word.
Now you listen to me, I'm an advertising man, not a red herring. I've got a job, a secretary, a mother, two ex-wives and several bartenders that depend upon me, and I don't intend to disappoint them all by getting myself "slightly" killed.
Eve: I'm a big girl now.
Roger: Yes. And in all the right places.
MLB Fantasy Analysis: DePaula is nothing more than a middle reliever for the deepest of AL-only leagues that use true middle men.
Tying run is in the dugout somewhere.
That's funny. +5. (I'm frugal.)
What's this?
False hope or a pulse. You decide.
the former.
Tip o' the cap to a fine pitching outing by the Sabathian.
Since none of the adults are around to do it...
Nice shiv graphic on the earlier thread. Zat from the MOMA?
Just a Google search, but it was a sharp image.
*crickets*
Dug a bit deeper. It's from a photo show called The Art of the Shiv.
Wow - shiv #7 - Bertin-lethal weapon there, boyo.
Shiv #5 gets my highest ranking for metaphor - typewriter carriage return turned shiv.
Form follows function, man.
that first one looks more like an oyster knife. Must have been from a minimum security prison.
Must have been from a minimum security prison.
So were these.
cribbage board pegs?
Peg two.
Wow, the game is over already. The Twins aren't exactly making me sorry for missing these games to go play softball. (Still alive in the playoffs, not that anyone cares.)
The Twins are digging themselves quite a hole. Still lots of intradivision games left, but they've got a lot of work to do.
I'll have to catch DePaula's appearance on the replay. Kinda wanted to see him out there, but I'm glad to see that both of his ball-in-play outs were ground outs, so I don't look like too much of a liar saying he was a groundball pitcher.
I didn't see your writeup till later. Glad to see a confidence builder there for the young fella.
Wow, the game is over already. The Twins aren’t exactly making me sorry for missing these games to go play softball.
They laid down like lambs on Broadway. One bright spot, the Rook handled his mop pretty well.
There's at least some value in that. Between yesterday and today, I think about the only guy left in the 'pen was Nathan.
Kudos to E-6, NBB, and bS for keeping score, so to speak.
there is a "crisis in the growing doubt about the meaning of our own lives and in the loss of a unity of purpose for our nation."
--Jimmy Carter
Jimmy clearly was doing his Jeane Dixon/Nostradamus thing back in 1979, speaking about the WGOM Nation's malaise here in this spring of our discontent. We just thought he was talking about stagflation and sinning in our hearts and stuff.
Like Der Ubelmench, meaning of our own lives means softball. Not only did I "miss" the game, I'm anxiously awaiting lunch hour so I can watch MOXI'd LOST from last night.
btw, currently 2-0 in softball, and I'm crediting the TC cap.
