Mazzy Star - Blue Highway

August 1st, 2007 by E-6

Lovely psychedelic pop from the mid '90s. I always thought these guys should have been huge. Too bad vocalist Hope Sandoval was such a Plain-Jane.

Something you want to see? Call the request line.

"So tonight that I may Sleep" was kindof big in my circle in high school (me and 2 friends had it), but I don't think there was enough variety within that album for any of us to clamor for any other albums. One song was typically enough, usually "Fade into you" or "Five string Serenade." Or as a background album.

Never checked out her solo stuff. Was it as fuzzy? I know she did an okay track with the Chemical Brothers (but she's no Beth Orton).

I think her duet with the Jesus & Mary Chain (name escapes me) may have been my favorite song from her or them, but then I only had that album from J&MC.

Word to The Nation: E-6 and I are still working out our time-sharing strategy. We've neglected the Request Line a bit recently. We promise to get back to your requests soon.

E-6: I scheduled alternating weeks. You should feel free to take any/all of the weeks I skipped. Then I suppose we should give the people something of what they've asked for :-)

Sorry, the LTE form is closed at this time.
