Bettie Serveert - Palomine
September 2nd, 2007 by E-6
Dutch rockers led by lovely Carol Van Dyk play the title track from their debut LP at a festival in the Netherlands. 1993. Great song, great band.

Nice. New band for me - thanks. Of course, in Bert's day, Dutch rockers played In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida-length numbers.

Bettie Serveert is a very underrated band. They have a great back catalog, are wonderful performers, and still tour with their original line-up. I've seen them 5 times and it's always a treat, most recently in the 7the Street Entry in '05. Maybe a 150 people in attendance, but they played like it was a sold out gig at the garden. And Carol is still lovely.
Incidentally, they took their name from the autobiography of Dutch tennis player, Betty Stöve. Bettie Serveert means "Bettie serves." I'm thinking of starting a band and calling it Bert Cirkels, which means...We're sure to suck.

Too lazy to look, but wasn't Sweet a dutch band? Wonder if there's any Sweet videos at youtube? (again, too lazy to look)

Sweet were British, but they are on Youtube. It all appears to be lip-synced, but who cares. We're on holiday. ACTION!

Ah, my roommate back in the 80s had a dutch copy of their greatest hits LP; that's what I was thinking of. I stand corrected.
