The Jam - Pretty Green
September 3rd, 2007 by E-6
From their Sound Affects LP. They were England's biggest band, but made little headway stateside. Our loss. From 1981.
Pohlad should line Morneau and Santana's pockets with the stuff.

Ran across a copy of All Mod Cons (their 2nd LP) in the cut-out bin at the Shopko in Mankato when I was a junior in high school. I thought they had a good look and a cool name. I bought it for a 1.99. Big Who-like chords with punk energy. I was hooked. They later nicked bits from the Kinks, the Beatles and Motown, while carving out their own sound. I probably still have all the original releases on vinyl, and a couple compilations on disc. They only toured the US once, and cut the tour short after 5 dates. Back in England, they were voted group of the year 5 years running in the Melody Maker.
