Great Moments in Enhanced Gameday History - 5 Sep 2007, inning 3

September 5th, 2007 by Rhubarb_Runner

Hunter DP

Hunter coming to bat in the 3rd with 1 out and runners at the corners.

pitch 1: ball foul
pitch 2: ball
pitch 3: ball
pitch 4: ball
pitch 5: DP!

Well, FotF, if you could have laid off that fershlugginer first pitch, you'd have a walk. Of course, that last pitch looked like it might have been a ball, too...

I've seen little leaguers lay off of that pitch.

Note: pitch 5 was clocked at 42 MPH.

SideshowTootie replied on September 5, 2007 at 1:32:59 pm

With 32" of break, too.

Looks like a glitch more than anything. Has to be, right? Right?

Unless Carmona has an eephus pitch.

I heard NO mention of the pitch being unusual from Dazzle or Gordo.

SBG replied on September 5, 2007 at 3:18:49 pm

Regardless, it qualifies as a great moment.

The pitch was middle in. Perhaps a bit inside, but it didn't look anything like it looks up there. :)

Here's the view from the mound. I like how it leaves the frame then drops back in.

I think I'll perplex him with my slowball.

As a kid Top Jimmy probably complained to his folks that the Gorillas' catcher was too big to play his position.

Andrew replied on September 5, 2007 at 4:52:20 pm

When they say the score is 96-95, does that include the Gorillas' runs before Bugs came into the game? Because by my count the Gorillas have already scored 96 runs (10,28,16,42).
