TV on the Radio - Wolf Like Me / Dreams
September 5th, 2007 by E-6
Brooklyn rockers with a blistering version of Wolf Like Me from the Letterman show, fall of '06.
Dreams featuring Peter Murphy of Bauhaus and NIN's Trent Renzor. Awesome vocal interplay.

Oh warfarin' terrapin
Unconfined undesigned
Undersigned bantering
Bartering bellowing
Barracking blundering
Pillaging plundering
Living and lavishing
Hammerings harrowing
Flourishing flattening
Levelling reveling
Wrecking and ravaging
Savoring savaging
You've got me worried and wondering
All your dreams are over now
And all your wings have fallen down
All your dreams are over now

Great. Now there is another band I have to put on my "must see live" list.
That was awesome.

They were at Lollapalooza, but I don't think I saw them.

I'm kicking myself for turning down freebies for a First Ave gig a couple years back. These guys are the real deal.
I get a kick how the "alt-rock legends of old" are almost reverential on the latter cut. To that end, David Bowie was so taken with their first record, Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes, he essentially begged to be involved with their 2nd - Return to Cookie Mountain. He sings back up on a couple of tracks. There's sweet irony involved with a group of African Americans taking distinctly "white" strains of rock and roll (art/angst/emo/glam) and making them their own.
