Convention

September 6th, 2007 by SBG

If you haven't already, but you want me to, tell me how many $20 tickets you want for the September 22, 2007 game.

If you have e-mailed me or responded to the last post, I have you down as committed. That means you, Andrew, Scot, E-6, Gleeman, CarterHayes, Will (I am assuming), Banjo(?). Seth, are you in? Nick? Statfreak? Anyone else interested? Did I mention Gleeman will be there? You had better sign up! I'll be buying TIX soon!

Moss would love to join, but can't commit. Please keep Moss posted -- perhaps Moss could come for pregame festivities.

I'm definitely in. Unfortunately, Sheenie will be tied up with the High Holy Days.

Its too bad I live four hours away.

Aaron Gleeman replied on September 6, 2007 at 9:22:47 am

Did I mention Gleeman will be there?

Knowing what little I do about the SBG Nation, this might not be a particularly strong selling point for some.

Ha! Any good Jew would be at the convention. Silly holidays come around every year.

Its too bad I live four hours away.

This is an only slightly better excuse than religion. Seth has been known to drive for several thousand hours just to have lunch with a half-dozen bloggers.

What's not to love? Doom and gloom, doom and gloom, Jessica Biel. It's all right up our alley!!

Any good Jew would be at the convention.

Right. What could be more atoning than to suffer through a Twins game manned by the likes of Punto, Dell, L-Rod, Jones, Tyner and (mebbe even) Ford, with eight different pitchers and featuring Sideshow Pat's 400th consecutive appearance?

It;s too bad I live four hours away.

I do too. You don't see that stopping me.

kg2005 replied on September 6, 2007 at 10:21:46 am

Let me clarify. It's too bad that I live four hours away, and I can't afford the gas due to the fact that I'm a college student with a part time job and I currently owe my dad $500 for this semesters tuition.

Andrew replied on September 6, 2007 at 10:28:32 am

Ah, I feel yah. Had this happened last year, I'd probably be in the same boat.

CarterHayes replied on September 6, 2007 at 1:01:36 pm

Ouch. I was going to razz you a bit until I read about the tuition. I'm an unemployed college student, but I thankfully have a (future) spouse who provides for my needs and a line of cash from the US Gov't to pay for tuition. Sometimes I forget that there are people working late nights and long hours at the same time they're going through school. If I could slide you some cash to cover the trip, I would KG. I wish everyone in the Nation could make it.

SBG replied on September 6, 2007 at 2:07:42 pm

You've worked hard from that line of cash, boyo. I worked the parttime job in college. I made just enough to buy food, beer, and gas, with a little left over for rent and 'lectricity.

I like how that list is prioritized.

And I'm bringing my friend Q. You may remember him from such classics as "The Pronk Story". I'm staying with him while I'm in town, so I figured the polite thing to do was invite him. I figured I couldn't rightly sleep at his place without bringing him along. He's a big baseball fan (the Astros, unfortunately) and I think he'll get along nicely.

brianS replied on September 6, 2007 at 10:36:00 am

Astros fan. So he understands misery.

Andrew replied on September 6, 2007 at 10:45:19 am

Aye, that he does. And for the love of whichever God you believe in, do not ask Q about his team from MLB 05. He will go on for days about having Lou Brock with a couple hundred steals and Satchel Page having 30 wins and even on and on about the players the computer made up. That is a road we do not want to travel my friends.

"You may remember him..." - It sounds like you're introducing Troy McClure!

I'm sure my wife wouldn't understand/allow me to burn a vacation day and frequent-flier miles to attend, but we have a summer trip up Nort' for next summer, so hopefully the Twins are in town then.

Banjo replied on September 6, 2007 at 11:13:16 am

Crap..I now have a conflict and will be traveling.

Not sure what your total count is, but i could still donate some "cheap seats" vouchers. I have 4 vouchers worth 2 seats each. it would cost the attendees a total of $8 ($1 per seat). I could mail these to the "Stick Today"

I'll also donate some door prizes in the form of watches, bike gear, with perhaps some of the new limted edition banjo brothers t-shirts.

Bummer.

Scot replied on September 6, 2007 at 3:23:28 pm

I thought names were going to be published only if we didn't pay...

SBG replied on September 6, 2007 at 3:36:52 pm

This is a good list. That list is hopefully never going to be published.

Nick N. replied on September 6, 2007 at 7:08:36 pm

Unfortunately, it's looking like I'm going to have to work that day. Crud.

sheenie replied on September 7, 2007 at 2:52:23 pm

I feel that Will failed to mention that I will be in New Orleans on that day. I would probably have gone, otherwise.
