Nothing to do with Miles, aside from the fact he he was an iconic legend: Luciano Pavarotti is dead at 71.

caught between a loss of beer (Michael Jackson) and a loss of caffeine (Alfred Peet), he couldn't go on.

I have this show on video. If memory serves, the concert's in Copenhagen. The European tour of the "Lost Quintet" (so called because that great lineup never recorded as a unit in the studio), Fall '69. A transitional period, just after the Bitches Brew album had been recorded, but I think the latest album on the market at the time was In A Silent Way, so audiences were somewhat startled by what they heard Miles playing on the road in late '69 and 1970.

My favorite video from that tour is from Berlin, if you want to look for it on ebay, but this one is nearly as good. If Sony gets around to a domestic CD reissue of the July '69 concert from Juan les Pins, run out to get it. The band was incredible on that gig.

Thanks for the Miles fix, E-6.
