Cup of CoffeeWolves lose again by 22, Kevin Love down to 17 minutes. This is the worst possible situation for the Wolves. They are driving what is left of their fan base with a tremendous stretch of terrible basketball. Their best, or second-best, player has checked out and is getting buried on the bench. I doubt that Love is in their long term plans. How's that O.J. Mayo deal looking now? Citizens Online18 Users Online WGOM Sign InLog InRetired WGOM Jokes

Yeah, everyone calls it "the money pit" but very rarely do you hear anyone call it "the time pit", which is just as accurate.
some would say that time IS money
There are but three overarching axioms to home improvement projects:
1. If you have the money to do it, you don't have the time.
2. If you have the time to do it, you don't have the money.
3. Every project requires a minimum of three trips to the hardware store.
Flounder's BACK!
I really wish he would do well. I have no real reason to think he will, or even any real reason to think he'll play, but I can still wish.
Anyone have any thoughts on the Vikings victory yesterday?
*crickets*
Winning is good. Losing is bad.
does that include the Goofers?
It does when they start playing teams in the same league.
Yeah, until then, it's "winning is alright, losing is much worse."
What's a "Vikings"?
I wish you guys would try to restrain your enthusiasm a little.
Inquiry: can Santana still take home the Cy again this year? What would it take?
He's only inches away from the AL ERA lead, with Bedard out to pasture the K lead is up for the taking, and even with all the HRs Johan is solid with leaders in OBA, BA, WHIP, etc. Is he close enough to the W leaders not to be Colon'd again this year? How many more starts will he have this year? Does he even deserve it over (someone else)?
He has to win out with some majorly-studly performances (double-digit Ks and a shut out or two). And even then, I don't think he's got a chance.
Josh Beckett is gonna win the AL CY. Captain Cheeseburger and maybe Erik Bedard (and maybe Wang) will finish ahead of Santana in the voting.
Beckett is leading the league in FIP, so it's not as though it would be a total travesty. But more importantly to the voters, he's 18-6 with a solid ERA and 8.6 K/9 for the best team in the AL.
Bedard probably SHOULD win it, even with the late injury.
Bedard's been awfully good, but I don't know about so good that missing 50 innings still puts him in the lead. (And he'll probably finish more like 70 innings behind C.C.)
As it stands now, Santana's in the top tier of pitchers, but hasn't done anything to really set himself apart. Unfortunately, I think his fingernail got the best of him this year.
Wang is good, but just below the very top tier of pitchers in my book, so he'll probably get the most "undeserved" support. When I saw Beckett pitch at Safeco this year, he looked really great, and he's got the numbers to back it up. He would probably be my choice. (Also keep in mind that the xFIP numbers are not park adjusted, and Fenway is a hitter's park, so that should also help his case.)
Even if he deserves it, the voters will have their heads up someone else's Colon.
Yeah, having seen Cy talk here and there on ESPN, Santana's not even in the discussion. Kruk and Hershiser just want to see wins, baby. (Kruk was behind Wang and Hershiser was behind Beckett.) Steve Phillips was the only guy willing to say that wins were a team function, and if Steve Phillips is your only advocate, your position doesn't stand much chance in an argument. Of course, Steve Phillips was supporting Kelvim Escobar--a good pitcher having a good season to be sure--but one who has been lucky in other ways this year.
Moss, you're still speaking in Dr. Strangelove voice.
btw, here's the latest standings, re: Neyer/James Cy Predictor. Johan wasn't even on the list before yesterday's performance. Bedard doesn't crack the top 10. And even if the Twins were on top the AL Central, he'd be ~5th.
There's a FRod and a Putz ahead of Santana, and they're not even starters! They can't win the Cy!
sigh.
The single post now has a column on the right. I flipped an RSS feed to other Twins Blogs there for the time being, but I'd like to use it for whatever seems to be the best use. The single post is still pretty wide, allowing for tables and such (although a few posts will look funny now) while still allowing for a sidebar to add useful content.
I would like to see recent comments there, so I can know if someone's said something in another post without going through the main page.
Oh yeah, and if anyone asks, I'm not here... I'm working hard on my project (almost done unless something comes up last minute that makes me re-work everything).
Hey guys. I'm back. I'll get pictures up from my trip into enemy territory soon.
