  • Not exactly top-40 material, but it was definitely worth the price of admission. Thanks, E-6.

E-6: Like Jack Radio. He takes your requests -- and stuffs 'em!

  • Weird. I was debating posting her doing a live version of "Fidelity" as my music video of the week thing today, but went with something else at the last minute.

I now suspect that E-6 is reading my mind.

    • Very nice, AG. We don't mind you utterly, absolutely, completely RIPPING OFF SBG's cool idea, 'cuz we like you. Plus, like, you send a zillion readers here with every link. Smile

        *reading Gleeman's mind*

        cleavage, cleavage, cleavage.

That's a sweet clip, Aaron. Begin to Hope is a fine record. And if you do a little on-line digging, you can find her awesome version of "Chelsea Hotel" by Leonard Cohen.

  • I saw Regina at Lollapalooza. I'd never heard her sing before, and she didn't really impress. But after this video I think the problem was venue, not her. She just wasn't big enough for the outdoor expansiveness of Grant Park. If I saw her in a more confined setting, it would be a much better performance.

  • I liked that song. Thanks for posting it.

when I think end of summer songs, 'Summers Gone' by The Kinks and 'Be True To Your School' by The Beach Boys come to mind

    • E-6

Both of those are beauties, watts. I didn't really consider this an end of summer song as much as I thought the date signified the end of summer. And "summer" was in the title. As usual, I was wrong. Equinox is Sunday.

A couple other swell 'end of summer' songs, "Summer Wine" by Lee Hazlewood and Nancy Sinatra, "September" by Earth, Wind & Fire and "Autumn Sweater" by Yo La Tengo.

      • ah yes. I see
Did you know Lee Hazlewood recently passed away? I didnt know he was alive until I heard that on the news. He wrote a ton of songs

        • E-6

I did know he passed away. I linked to it somewhere here, (cuppa coffee, mebbe?) but heaven knows where. This was the link - some great vids that will end up here eventually, I'm sure. He was a hugely influential cat who is ripe for rediscovery.

  • Ms. Spektor getting some play on the comics pages!

Is no one else even just a tiny bit disturbed by her resemblance to Chelsea Clinton?

Is no one else even just a tiny bit disturbed by her resemblance to Chelsea Clinton?

A comment worthy of Rush Limbaugh.

      • SBG

Which is not to mean that I am calling you Rush Limbaugh, but I think that his treatment of Chelsea Clinton was despicable.

During one episode in 1993, Limbaugh mentioned to his viewing audience that the Clintons had a cat, and displayed a photo of the well-known White House cat, "Socks." Continued Limbaugh, "But did you know they also have a White House dog?", at which point what came up on the screen was a picture of thirteen-year-old Chelsea Clinton.

        • E-6

Rush's parents should have been spayed or neutered.

          • Drug addiction is a disease.

            Wink

            • btw, Chelsea seems to have grown up into a lovely young woman, despite Republican efforts to twist her. And the blame should not be isolated to drug-hazed kooks like Rush. To wit, this despicable column by John Derbyshire

Yet still the presence of that specter can be felt, an icy wind blowing to us from the unseeable future, disturbing our sleep, arresting us in the midst of our daily tasks, chilling and warning us. Bill and Hill are history, but Clintonism may yet rise again, like Glenn Close from that bathtub. For, ladies and gentlemen, the tworch has been paaahssed to a noooh genewation of Clintons. On February 27th, Chelsea Clinton will turn 21.

At this point I had better make a confession. It's a bad one, I know it. It is low, contemptible and — yes! — mean-spirited. It may very well place me beyond the pale of civilized society. I don't care. Truth will out, I will be heard. Brace yourself: I hate Chelsea Clinton.

              ...

But this is all rationalization. More than anything, I admit, I hate Chelsea because she is a Clinton. Not just genetically a Clinton, but in spirit and habit and manner. The evidence for this is now, I think, sufficient to indict.

              • it goes on ... and on...

Chelsea is a Clinton. She bears the taint; and though not prosecutable in law, in custom and nature the taint cannot be ignored. All the great despotisms of the past — I'm not arguing for despotism as a principle, but they sure knew how to deal with potential trouble — recognized that the families of objectionable citizens were a continuing threat.

soooo, is she from a family of despots, or a family of objectionable citizens whom despots should eliminate as threats? I'm not sure here.

              • E-6

                I read the whole thing.

                *jaw hanging near keyboard*

Does this hack still have a job? Lord Almighty, what a wretched soul. And we think Top Jimmy uses old cultural references? This clod dug up Fatal Attraction about 14 years after the fact.

      • just btw, my comment wasn't meant to be a slam on anyone's looks. it was purely a political jab

        In case anyone cared Smile
