Bonus coverage: Padres at Rockies
Posted by brianS on Monday, October 1st, 2007 at 6:38 pm
Emergency intervention here. Jake Peavy (19-6, 2.36 ERA, .203 BAA, 234:64 K:BB) vs Josh Fogg (10-9, 4.79 ERA, .289 BAA, 89:57 K:BB).
In the interests of finding a Safeco-like comment about Fogg, he went 6 2/3 shutout innings his last start, Sept. 26 at the Dodgers.

Giles grounds out to start the game.
K. The Fogg of War
The highest BA in the Padres' lineup is Josh Bard's .283. Yikes.
The only Rockie position player with a lower BA is catcher Torrealba's .256.
who you all cheering for?
eh. Padres, I guess. I went to grad school in SD. That's all I got.
I like both teams
Im so torn
Kouzmanoff with an infield single off the glove of Todd Helton, but Adrian Gonzalez struck out swinging. End of the top of the first. The Nation still trying to find its reserved seats.
Wow. They are not messing around. I go pee and miss the first batter.
Troy Tulowiski's MLB.com pohot looks like he is a cross between Lew Ford and Jason Bartlett
at age 12
infield single for Tulowitzski. Not enough to score Matsui from second (after his leadoff double). Ruh-roh!
Do you walk Holliday? I guess not.
Free baseball, Nation! Where are you? dw and I are gonna get tired holding up the tent by ourselves.
6:45 is a weird time to start a game
gotta get the game in before losing the Mountain time-zone Heroes audience
ooh. pressure is on San Diego now
One out and first base open after the Helton SF. 1-0 Rocks. Future Twin Garret Atkins at the plate.
Open the floodgates!!!
Peavy is shaky (at least according to GameDay)
I'm listening to the Rockies' feed. He's getting rocked.
I need a tv at work
Well, that's not fair. Groundball double; Infield single; walk; deeeeep SF; soft liner for a single; pop out; lazy fly out.
clarification: MY assessment wasn't fair.
2-0 Rockies after 1
and the Rockies' feed is featuring NO commercials. just crowd noise. How 'bout them economics?
too bad you dont get the announcers bantering back and forth
thats good stuff
Fogg of War again.

good at bat here for Bard
"Thy eternal summer shall not fade"
Sonnet 18
They just ran the obligatory explanation of the humidor...
NBB!!!
/NORM! cheer voice
I don't suppose you're drinking Coors, bS?
That's just WRONG, NBB.
although, to be fair, the Blue Moon is a pretty good hefe.
Last night was Red Tail Ale from Mendocino Brewing.
I wonder why with a big rich corporation like MLB, they cant have someone to update the players photos
Brady Clark here still wears a Dodgers cap
Fogg is in control against a pretty weak lineup. Pads are in trouble. And the bullpen is the GOOD part of the Rockies' staff.
He Yorvit'd that one!
boom sticks!
Peavy with a single
nice
You know, I've thought of upgrading to "real" cable just for the playoffs since I won't have any baseball for almost a couple weeks otherwise. (Currently I have the bottom 20 channels in lieu of an over-the-air antenna.)
baseball looks better on radio.
Huge - God smiles on the holy men.
You know, I’ve thought of upgrading to “real” cable
If it's that or your wife going to LA Nails, I vote for th' cable.
walk. two on, nobody out. But
JerryScott Hairston is up. GIDP opportunity.Whaaa? A rally!
Padre rally halo here -> O
Padres with something cooking here
Ok, I'm heading home after this batter. Take the bull by the horns, dw.
Peavy with a Carl Crawford moment there.
ooooooo myyy goooshhh
ADDDRIIIIIAAAAANNNNN
grand slam
4-3 Padres
wow, Pads with a lot of offense this inning. rally time again
Anyone know what radio station(s) is(are) carrying playoff games in the Twin Cities?
Not 'CCO
you might be better trying to pick up KOA out of Denver. 820 on the AM Dial. I guess ESPN Radio is carrying it..so maybe KFAN
Nice DB attempt there (pours ball into dribble cup...)
two and a half in the books, 5-2 Friars
MaidRite gone from the A.L. dining scene, true?
true
one would have to go to Austin to get a sandwich like that. Man I bet i went there 2 times a week for about 3 years, and I cant remember the name of the place!
Used to go to MaidRite in Minnetonka. Not really sure what's behind the MaidRite technology, but would guess it involves multiple boilings of ground beef. Coupla Maids, and a lime phosphate or such. Great meatery.
there is a MaidRite right acroos the boarder in Iowa somewhere, so I hear. Ill have to investigate this further
Be careful. Iowegia is on the' edge, having pushed the ethanol boundary a li'l far.
I always make sure to look out when I go there
The 3.2 beer should be your first tipoff.
I dont rag on Iowa so much anymore because they allow casinos to be built anywhere (it seems) and someone built one 15 minutes from my apartment
Thank God the Tribes are authentic and verifyable. Whew.
There are 2 or 3 MaidRites I can think of right off the top of my head here in Iowa.
And the casinos are very nice. I can be playing the ponies in 15 minutes from my place.
Maid-Rite rocks.
it was the TenderMaid and it was awesome.
Tater tot, there.
Peavy 2.36 ERA, 234 SO, 19 wins. Not bad.
triple crown of pitching
my computer takes a crap on me and I miss an inning
man this game is flying
Gonzalez with a monster game so far
I wish I knew Spanish
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tps7_1S_plM
Johan drinking beer in front of kids?
what is this exactly?
Looks like a typical post-game ritual for most ballplayers. Kinda weird, though.
Not as strange as Joe DiMaggio (or other athletes) shilling for whatever heaters he smoked during his playing career.
Wow - no WebGem there.
Crowd shouting MVP and gets it! Nice.
its a tie ballgame again!
Heroes commercial break...
I like both of these teams. I wouldn't mind either one of them losing to the Indians in the WS.
No local radio. Guess it's Gamecast in MPLS.
(By the way, "Howdy, fellas!")
E-6!! Hey, Pally!
Back attcha, boyo!
hey! hows it going!
Man, I miss playoff baseball.
Peavy with 90+ pitches, and they are leaving him in
Peavy pops out on the bunt -- class C player, it appears.
Heh. Yeah, Peavy, slacker.
He's OK, I guess. For an NL cat...
remember when Jeremy Affedlt sucked?
yeah I remember those days
Heck, I still remember getting a Serafini rookie baseball card.
you know what im going to miss most about Torii? His interaction with the kids
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hE5TkHCtlYI
Sweet!.
C'mon. That was lame.
clutch by a player who has 7 at bats this year
2 sac flies for the home team so far this game and Peavy touched for 6 runs
ouch
Ouch. He dropped the ball...
Brady Clark is having a terrible inning.
Peavy struggling...
LaTroy?
