Joe Ely & the Crickets — Not Fade Away

"Tribute to Buddy Holly" concert, possibly Sept. 5, 1990 at the Lone Star Roadhouse in NYC. Although that sure doesn't look like Max Weinberg on drums, does it?

Smokin' version. Although, honestly, who dressed these guys? Sheesh. '80's fashion blew.

The Stones did a nice job with this one, too. From The Mike Douglas Show, 1964.

And the real deal himself, Buddy Holly. "Peggy Sue." (Both Buddy and the Stones with far more forgiving sartorial choices.)

I used to watch Mike Douglas occasionally when I'd be home sick from school in the early 1970s. Man, I sure don't remember any musical guests like this.

down right subdued for Mick. out of respect for the Music? Kind of nice to see a clip with a functional Brian Jones in the mix.

hmm. Horn-Rimmed Glasses guy. Texas. Did he work for the Company back then? How did they fake his death? He's hardly aged in 40 years -- is that his power?

That's funny. I used to watch Mike Douglas when I stayed home sick from school, too. I do remember some music, however, most notably this:

John and Yoko co-hosted the entire week.

John and Yoko co-hosted the entire week.

With their clothes on? Upright?

whose jersey is he wearing? I couldn't quite make out the name on the front. There was an "E" on the sleeve inside of some sort of geometric figure (a pot?)

Do you think McCartney ever listens to Imagine back-to-back with My Brave Face and get really embarrassed?

bS, at one time I maybe could have answered you, until I met this Haitian guy...

I remember watching Mike Douglas a bit after school as well. Still remember seeing Rick Wakeman perform "The Battle" from Journey to the Centre of the Earth -- cool stuff.

I dont understand the 'greatness' of Buddy Holly, but man did he pump up some fine tunes

Linda Ronstadt with 'Its So Easy' (off her fantastic "Simple Dreams" album, but thats for another day I suppose)

I dont know if that will embed, so someone might have to fix it

Nice one, dw. Linda had another huge hit with Holly's, "That'll Be The Day."
