Saw these fellers at First Ave back in the day. They tore it up. I remember reading something at the time about how they were "too rock and roll for country, and too country for rock and roll." I don't know. It sounds pretty good to me.
Did you make it over to the Frida Kahlo show at the Walker? NBBW and I went while in MSP for the holidays.
Pretty good selection from across her life. Very personal, fits surreal moniker nicely. Oh, and it's kaw-low, not kay-low.
I haven't caught that yet, but it's up until the 20th of this month. I'll definitely check it it out before it leaves. At the risk of sounding sexist, I'd rather see a show of her husband's work.
I did see the Georgia O'Keefe show at the MIA, however. Quite interesting, but would've loved to have seen more of her earlier city paintings. I'm not that crazy about the flowers and skulls. As a gruff old painter friend of mine once remarked about her, "O'Keefe? Hell, if I want to look at pictures of p---y, I'll buy a men's mag."
I'd recommend the head-set thingy. Never used to do those until Serra exhibit at the MoMA. Walked through most of it, thot was OK, and then got the head set and did again. Huge meme improvement.
