Comment Club - brianS #1000
January 15th, 2008 by Andrew
Next in our continuing celebration of the half-baked crap that floats around our small portion of the internet, we have brianS and his take on Tejada and Tyner from the August 22nd, 2006 Gamelog.

Note - I've tweaked the plaque slightly. I think the text matches the leaves a little better now for one thing. The other thing is the addition of the star over the name. Each star represents 1000 comments, similar to how the stars on the CBF Shield represent Brazil's 5 World Cups.

heh. could have been much, much worse. I'll take my fifteen minutes, thank you very much. Particularly given my very next comment: "Almost Automatic Willie."

Almost Automatic Willie
That sounds like an epitaph.
I like how the text on the plaque reads like a little poem.

Good to see the nickname "Tyny Ryfleman" cast in e-stone. That had a pretty big VORN (Value Over Replacement Nickname) in my book, considering that J-Tyne or J-Tyn would have just been lame.
SBG replied on January 15, 2008 at 11:43:22 am
I like the stars. Don't worry, bS, there's still plenty of time to be embarrassed, since you've got 10 more of these coming.
brianS replied on January 15, 2008 at 11:48:01 am
which is why I'm campaigning for a revision to 1,000, 2,500, 5,000 and 10,000 milestones
Andrew replied on January 15, 2008 at 12:20:33 pm
The stars could become a problem once we get into your guys' 10th, 11th, 12th plaques, but for the majority I think they are a pretty simple, clean solution.
SBG replied on January 15, 2008 at 12:32:02 pm
Just make a bigger star that represents 5000 comments.
Andrew replied on January 15, 2008 at 12:55:06 pm
Simple enough. Consider it done.
Neil replied on January 15, 2008 at 12:36:19 pm
That's pretty sharp.
I just want to pass Anonymous.

Are these plaques going to be organized into a HOF type page? I think that would be pretty cool. We could also include a link to each HOFer's BKAC post there if that poster has one.
Congrats on the inauguration brianS. Although 1,000 comments doesn't seem so much like a milestone to you as it does a daily quota.
SBG replied on January 15, 2008 at 12:52:59 pm
Yep, we're going to put together an HOF page. And, Andrew or somebody came up with the BKAC link idea, too. I think Andrew is like our personnel director, having come up with both the BKAC and HOF ideas.
Andrew replied on January 15, 2008 at 12:54:17 pm
It is my understanding from converstations with SBG that there will be some sort of central repository for all the plaques for ease of navigation.

I guess I'm a tad slow on the "SEND" button. What he said.
Rhubarb_Runner replied on January 15, 2008 at 2:21:49 pm
I think this HOF idea is silly. In other words, I wish I'd have thought of it first. Looking good, Andrew. And bS...well, not bad. I'm shuddering to think what mine are going to look like.
Andrew, might want to make use of a "..." and just capture the essence of the longer comments, if they end up too big. The star is a great idea.
frightwig replied on January 15, 2008 at 2:50:40 pm
I'm not sure it's a HOF so much as a WGOM Reliquary.
SBG replied on January 15, 2008 at 3:24:53 pm
This is kind of like the AND MUSEUM portion of the SBG HOF AND MUSEUM. We'll have to consider an arbitrary and capricious way to induct members into a subjective and tainted HOF.

Are you suggesting that we don't always express our thoughts in the most clear and concise way possible? Inconceivable!

Me too.
Beau replied on January 15, 2008 at 2:44:50 pm
I still have 300 posts to go (wait...299!) before I get a plaque, and it feels like I've written a million posts here. But to be fair, I think I wrote a few before WGOM even had a login system. I guess for right now I can only be considered for the Hall of Very Good.
kg2005 replied on January 15, 2008 at 3:04:04 pm
That just means you've been posting for a long time. Not enough days with 20 posts.
brianS replied on January 15, 2008 at 3:25:01 pm
Not enough days with 20 posts.
20 posts in a day? Not even trying....
E-6 replied on January 15, 2008 at 3:30:17 pm
I've done that in my sleep.
ZZZZZZZZ.
SBG replied on January 15, 2008 at 3:23:33 pm
I'll work with Andrew to make sure all of your pre-login posts are recovered, if possible. I have ways of making that happen.
Andrew replied on January 15, 2008 at 3:30:26 pm
Also, I'm going to try to be careful about people with multiple logins. Will, to pick on someone, has Will Young, WillYoung, and Dread Pirate Will Young. I already know SBG's initial plaque is wrong because he has some "Stick and Ball Guy" posts too. That one can be our own little 191 RBI story.
