Comment Club - Whiffers #1000

Whiffers is the genius behind today's showcase comment. This comes from the game thread on August 10th, 2007, of what was a fairly diappointing game on the Twins' part from what I read. Game 115 of the 2007 campaign was not only a 10-1 loss to the Angels, but it was also the return of RonDL to LF.

Hmmm. That sounds a bit too stately, especially for a game thread! Sounds like something you might hear a CEO say in the middle of a company's annual meeting.

Now that you mention it, it does sound like those old SNL "commercials" spoofing Paine Webber - Grayson Moorhead Securities.

Those were great, but this one was always my favorite. I think I may have ruptured something the first time I saw it.

I'd just returned from a business trip to London, and all the cash I had was a five-pound note. Citiwide wasn't able to convert it to dollars, but they did give me four guineas, two crowns, four shillings, and ten pence.

And am I ever glad the UK decimalized the pound. That would have been hell to figure out.

btw, congrats on your inclusion to the HOF, whiffers. Beings I've been "out of it" for quite some time, I'm hoping for the sympathies of the Veteran's Committee.
