About the Author: Patrick Reusse covers all sports, including professional and college baseball, basketball, football, and hockey as well as the Olympic games and World Cup soccer, for the Minneapolis Star Tribune.  Reusse began his newspaper career at the Duluth News Tribune in 1966 and later wrote for the St. Cloud Times and the St. Paul Pioneer Press before going to the Star Tribune in 1988.  Reusse lives in Golden Valley, Minnesota.

About the book:  Kirby Puckett is a book you might have found in an elementary school book sale in the middle of the '90s, and appears to have been published just prior to his retirement from baseball.  Within its handful of pages are various highlights, photos, and personal items about Kirby's life in baseball.

Personal notes:

  • I pulled this book from the local library's shelves, and included it here for completeness.  It's part of a series of books for children called "Super Sports Stars Series," and also includes Michael Jordan and Troy Aikman.
  • Who is this Reusse guy?  Why haven't I heard of him before?

Sigh. The Weekly Reader provided me with lots of cheap books as a kid. And posters!

I noticed that the Twinscards site has books and magazines posted as well. Without the extensive reviews and comments found here at WGOM, it's only a shell of what it could have been.

32 pages? That's pretty short even for a children's book.

Well, the next two books in the queue are also 32 pages. Publishing/shipping prices must jump at 33 pages.

Plus a little glue and some ink, and you've got yourself a spot in the SBG Library.

32 pages? That ought to keep my lips moving for a couple of hours...
