2007-08 Game 43: New Jersey Nets @ Minnesota Timberwolves

<GreekHouse>The Wolves have emerged from their brutal 8 game stretch with a 2-6 record. They played as expected for the first 4 games, but really came on strong during the last 4 and almost pulled off the upset of the season at Boston on Friday. The result of the game was disappointing, but after getting over the initial disappointment of the loss, I was really able to feel good about how the team played. A few breaks going the other way and the Wolves could have easily had a 4 game winning streak.
Speaking of 4 game winning streaks, now would be a good time for the Wolves to get one. The next 4 games are all soft and incredibly winnable for the Wolves and I wouldn't be surprised if they go 4-0 or 3-1. After tonight's game againt New Jersey, they have back to back games against Chicago and then they play the Clippers on Friday.
New Jersey is completely reeling right now and I actually feel as though the Wolves should win this game. They're riding an 8-game losing streak and have been blown out in most of those games. I watched bits and pieces of the Nets game versus Golden State on Thursday. During the first quarter I saw Vince drive to the hoop with Arvydas Sabonis like speed. It was really painful to watch. Then it seemed like every time I turned on the game for the rest of the night, it seemed like the announcers or the TNT studio crew were talking about how Vince's knees were shot and he doesn't have it anymore. Despite appearances, he's still putting up numbers that are similar to his career numbers. So I don't know what to think about him.
Wolves are only 2 point favorites for this one. I think they'll cover easily.</GreekHouse>

Holy crap. This is a FUGLY game. The Nets are terrible.
The Wolves offense looked really out of sync in the first half. We should just feed BAJ in the post all night, they can't stop him.
its not good when your leadeing scorer at half has more points than the rest of the team combined
If you're Kobe and you're in the middle of an 81 point game it might be ok.
point taken
I know the Wolves draw minimal rating on FSN, but it would of been nice for them to be on the air tonight instead of college basketball. I dont get channel 45 in my area, so I rarely get to watch a Wolves game.
Nice little comeback but the local 5 this quarter so far
Jefferson continues to make a mockery of this Nets defense. I smell a 40 point night from him.
I smell a 40 point night from him.
GreekHouse with the Super SnifferTM. Nice Call.
I forgot tonight's game.
Oooh. Down to the wire.
Wolves take the lead with 11.4 to go after being down 7 with 1:14 and down 15 earlier. ZOMG!
Jefferson with 4FTs in the last 11.4 seconds. Megaclutch.
Also, a career high 40 points to go along with a ridiculous 19 boards.
Wow! What a game!
The kids are showing some fortitude. While I'm not breaking out champagne (sparkling wine or even malt liquor, for that matter), they're playing much better of late.
saw the last 15 seconds of the Orlando/Boston game today. Those were the right 15 seconds. Hedo with the fallaway three to win it at the buzzer.
Garnett DNP with a strained
jerseyabdominal muscle.Busted a gut letting out his inner fake thug last night.
And turned a few stomachs back in 'sota,
I was listening to KFAN on the way to work this morning and they were talking about how the Wolves were internally pretty upset with KG over his antics. Apparently, he gave the cold shoulder to the entire team before the game, yelled at the bench during the game, and acted like an ass by yelling at the bench some more after the game.
Well, as you wrote, it helps to turn the page. I can understand why he might have been emotional about the last play, but he needs to act like he's been there before.
Indeed. And Big Al needs to go for another 40/20 on Feb 8th. How nice is the big fella looking of late?
I've talked to a couple people who have interacted with KG in real life and both of them said that he's kind of a dick, so I'm not really surprised by his recent behavior. He's probably really bitter about his situation in Minnesota right now and probably will be for quite some time, so I don't think that helps. It'll be interesting to see when he comes back here in a couple weeks how he acts and if it seems to change him at all.
It is kind of a fine line between "intense competitor" and "asshole."
Indeed. KG's intensity is something that definitely makes you want him on your basketball team, but with a personality that intense, it can make you take things too seriously from time to time. For instance, a regular season basketball game against the worst team in the league. It's just a game, man!
Yet another reason to like Big Al.
I read that this morning too and laughed my ass off. It's the perfect response to someone who is being a dick to you.
According to the ABC announcers for the Celtics-Magic game, KG came to the arena Sunday thinking he would play, but Doc Rivers told him he'd be getting the night off to rest his ab muscles. So KG was so upset by the coach's decision, he never came out of the locker room to sit with his teammates during the game. When the sideline reporter asked Rivers about it during the 2nd quarter, Rivers said, "He's pouting."
Team Leader. Face of the Franchise. MVP. Benevolence, fire, theatre.
When they get bounced by Atlanta in the 1st round, I wonder what he'll be doing then? Pouting? I love that Big Al quote. That's hilarious. Almost as hilarious as the college picture of Minnesota's senior senator.
Go Norm!!!
Looks like Chris Richard is going to Sioux Falls. Considering that he has 2 appearances and ~12 minutes in the last 10 games, that kind of seems like a no-brainer.
I'm definitely ok with that. He seems like he might play a small role in the Wolves future, but riding the pine for 48 minutes a night isn't going to help him.
