The cold in Omaha sucks as well, fyi.

Here's a great prank the Twins need to play on Nick Punto. For real, though.

that was HILARIOUS

speaking of pranks and jokes, did anyone watch 'The History of the Joke' on The History Channel last night?
I was laughing so hard at some of those jokes, my eyes were watering up

Did the show feature the funniest joke in the world?

Lucy had a miscarriage. A very sad day for us.

What's your favorite lie line:

Roger Clemens: I never took "steer-roids" or HGH
Barry Bonds: All I used was flaxseed oil
Bill Belichek: I never video-taped nothin'
Seligula: I care about stopping PED use

or today's beauty:

"Van Horn and his agent David Falk spent much of Monday giving assurances to NBA officials that the 32-year-old will make a genuine attempt to make a comeback with the Nets."

Moss replied on February 19th, 2008 at 10:09 pm

...but he damn well better not try to resign with the Mavericks if he is cut by the Nets.

The NBA might play an outdoor preseason game

speaking of outdoors, I'm heading outside to watch the conclusion of today's stage of the Tour of California, practically on my office doorstep.

wil your house be on TV? I think Versus was airing that

brianS replied on February 19th, 2008 at 11:08 pm

downtown sacramento, not my house. although the race DID in fact go almost past my house as well (within about 4 blocks -- 2 blocks as the crow flies). so if there was aerial coverage of the trek from Davisville (where there was a sprint in downtown) to Warehouse City, you might have seen my roof.

I was standing on the south side of N Street between 9th and 10th, under a tree, wearing a blue trench coat. The peleton turned from 9th onto N, then proceeded up N around Capital Park, back on L St to 9th, then around again. 3 circuits, although I only stayed for the first two (we had been told that they'd cut it back to only 2 circuits because of the rain).

Verrrry cool. My colleagues tell me they were humpin' a lot harder last year, when it was dry. Still, at the end of a lazy, 120-mile ride, they were booking right along.

In my next life, I do NOT want to come back as a motorcycle cameraman for bike races. Dudes were riding double -- one driving, one holding the camera while STANDING UP at about 25 MPH.

I remember one year in the 70's the International 500 snowmobile race went right by our farm house. It was the year that Forrest Tucker was involved in a film about the race. Aw, heck, now I gotta look it up.

Here it is: "500 Miles Below Zero", from 1972.
