March 7th, 2008 by SBG
I got a late start this morning and traffic was terrible. I was wondering why, and now I know.

Three Timberwolves' seasons prior, my sister was dancing at half time with the rest of the University of St. Thomas dance team. Having worked until 7:30 AM and then gone to class until mid-afternoon, I overslept and left a little late. I was driving South on 35E having just passed Highway 96. If I'd have left another minute later I may not be alive today. Just a minute up the road infront of me, a driver (who I'd later read in the paper was a young woman) lost control of her car going Northbound, veered off into the ditch, flipped over, crossed over to the other side of the freeway and hit the car a mile up the road from me head on. Fortunately I was far enough back that I had time to stop. She died, though the folks in the car she hit lived. That freaked me out for a few days.
I've also driven past (three foot gap between us) an SUV going the wrong way on 35 outside of Kansas City. I called 911 and the operator asked for a description. I told her it was the only SUV with headlights on going the wrong way on northbound 35 around mile marker whateveritwas (I didn't see too much more).
