well, that is a different take on 'All of Me'. Well different than the one I am used to, Willie Nelson off his 'Stardust' album
Willie's is nice, but I'm partial to Sinatra's.
The interview with Jools was fascinating. I wish it was longer. He said something that any artist should take to heart: "Study the depths of music you wish to play. Be serious about it. And express it with honesty."
Really, that's sage advice to anybody...
I posted this as a chaser to Antony Johnson. Before Lou Reed took Antony under his wing, he was largely responsible for the career resurgence of another male singer with a high effeminite voice, after hiring Jimmy Scott to sing on his Magic and Loss album and taking him on tour. Jimmy's 1969 Atlantic album, The Source, is a cult favorite that was out of print for a long while until Joel Dorn reissued it a few years ago. Well worth seeking out.
I figured it was more than a coincidence. That's probably the only place I'd ever heard Mr. Scott's voice. Well, that and Twin Peaks.
Lou returned the favor to Antony Hegarty by contributing a great spoken word intro and some stinging guitar to "Fistful of Love" on I Am a Bird Now.
You mean everyone in the band didn't adopt the name Johnson, like the Ramones? I'm disappointed.
I suppose you were bummed when The Donnas dropped their "first name schtick", too?

Next you'll be ruining sex and Christmas for me, too.
In one fell swoop.
Ho! Ho! Ho!
