Mugshot Purgatory: New Faces #2

Posted by AMR on Thursday, March 13th, 2008 at 7:41 am

In the offseason, there were a few free-agent signings, and minor trades.

Don't know how former Royal Brian Bass came to the team, but he's here now, as a NRIT. Former Astros Adam Everett and Mike Lamb were signed in succession.

Also, the team got Livan Hernandez, Craig Monroe, and Matt Macri (NRIT). Macri came late last season via the Ramon Ortiz trade.

I saw Monroe play CF for a few innings at a Cubs game last September. Jaque Jones played CF in that game, too. He looks really happy, as if someone made a $2 Million error in his favor.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

Contracts like Monroe's and Livan's are the only things that make Nick Punto not seem so bad.

Lamb looks like someone in his general vicinity farted.

I could swear that Bass and Macri were NRITs when I grabbed the photos, but they're both on the 40-man now. No sign of it on the transactions page... seems they've been on the 40-man all along.

Also, I was pretty sure that the "T" in "NRIT" stood for something... Non-Roster Invite T, Perhaps?

I think what you mean is "NRPT", as in Not Ready for Prime Time
