Early enough for you, Rhu_Ru?

  • Geeze, Rhu_Ru, you pull all kinds of strings to get your coffee early, then you don't even have anything to say.

  • Well, what do you know. For some reason (like, because I didn't check the schedule) I was thinking we had a day game today. Does anybody know anything about Saunders beyond what's on B-R.com? Stats look fairly average, 4.44 ERA, 103 ERA+, 1.519 WHIP, nearly a 2/1 K/BB ratio.

Kyle Lohse was technically the Cardinals' opening-day starter (as take 1 went only went three innings before the rain-out). 5IP, 0R, ND due to a blown save.

The Royals are awesome. Beat Kenny Rogers 4-0 for the win.
Brian Bannister pitched 7, with 2H and 0BB for the Win.

  • Tonight's lineup, courtesy of Joe C.'s blog:

    1. Carlos Gomez, CF
    2. Brendan Harris, 2B
    3. Michael Cuddyer, RF
    4. Justin Morneau, 1B
    5. Delmon Young, LF
    6. Craig Monroe, DH
    7. Mike Redmond, C
    8. Nick Punto, 3B
    9. Adam Everett, SS

    • When Joe C comes out with this lineup, does this change Vegas' odds? If not, we may have an inefficiency in the gambling market. Knowing that Redmond, Punto, and Monroe are in there instead of Mauer, Lamb, and Kubel is pretty valuable information.

We got a lefty going for LAAA tonight and a day game tomorrow, so thank jeebus that Gardy figured tonight was the night to rest Mauer and not tomorrow.

        • I think it is a coincidence. He probably didn't want Mauer to catch 3 straight days. If it had been a lefty on Tuesday and a day game today, he still would have sat today.

  • Hey Banjo:

Tried out the NBB Commuter 2000 with the new Banjo Hnos Pannier. Coupla notes:

    1) Huge improvement to have the bike carrying the load (work clothes/shoes, swim stuff, work electronomy(cell phone/palm/pager/iPod, secret documents, etc.) and not my back.

    2) Several times the pannier shifted such that I felt the saddle bags click against the back of my feet. I adjusted my package (to borrow from the parlance of our times) and tightened the cinch. Not sure if design change needed here but thot I'd mention.

    3) Reflector piping is cool, but is only on the sides - evil Hartford cars from behind, where there is none.

    4) Wondered what the metal clips were for - then slowly those 4 years of advanced calculus in the early 80's kicked in - and I finished the install.

    5) Easy to detach and carry up to my office. Showed off to office-mates.

    6) Cool looking ride to work. Several comments on Asylum Street on the ride to work:

    Jamaican guy on sidewalk: Hey.
    NBB: Hey.

Sexy P.R. Chick at a Bus-Stop: Bitching pannier, NBB!
    NBB: *rings bell*

School Patrol Woman: Nice ride, pally! Have a safe day!
    NBB: No, you!

Indian Contractor by the Indian Contractor Apartments: NBB, you're th' dude!
    NBB: The dude abides.

    • Cool...it's funny. Many people will suffer with a messenger bag like it's some badge of honor but for my money, I'd much rather ride with the extra-stuff off my person.

Heel Clearance/Slippage - let me see if there are any tricks. I'm not a good test case here, because I use Burly's Moose Rack, which is a short rack, and I have issues with nearly every pannier. What rack do you use.

Piping -- I think you'd still get some visibility from behind since the piping is round, but it's so important, it's worth reviewing this in action. Good tip.

Style and substance! Gotta love it.

  • I'm closing in on comment #5000. I think it would be fitting if it was a nuke image.
