Ouch. At least he won't be in the lineup against us today.

Good thing the Twins didn't sign him. I'd hate to risk messing up that offensive juggernaut.

With our luck with veteran signings, if we HAD signed him, he'd still be the Big Hurt to the Twins.

Thomas probably never would have signed with the Twins, anyway. Gardy would have made him bunt, and he'd have spoiled his record.

The other shoe yet to drop. A's put Travis Buck on the 15-day DL and moved Chavez to the 60-day. But they also just signed Rajai Davis to provide backup in the OF. Where does that leave Jack Cust?

Sweeney Mike is hitting 309/391/418. Cust may have pumpkin'd, although teams are pitching around him a LOT (161/373/250).

This is just an odd acquisition. Thomas and Sweeney Mike are both right-handed hitters. You'd think Cust would be on the chopping block, but there's the handedness issue. I have to believe that Billy has a trade lined up for Sweeney Mike. I can't believe he's sufficiently unhappy with Daric Barton at 1b to move Sweeney there, so something has to give.

Yeah, he currently has three players with no defensive skills on the roster. That doesn't seem like a good long-term plan. And mainly, Sweeney and Thomas are completely redundant (though Thomas is probably a little better.)
