2008 Game 41: Minnesota Twins at Colorado Rockies

Nick Blackburn vs. Ubaldo Jimenez

Blackburn's been pretty decent in a low-K, low-BB way, high-GB% way, and Ubaldo's been pretty decent in a high-K, high-BB, higher-GB% way.

Sunny and high of 83 today in Seattle, so my work's done here for today. Carpe diem and all that. :)

Apparently, he hurt the thumb diving into first base. We've talked about this before, but I do not understand why teams allow players to do that. There is no evidence that it gets you to the base faster, and you have a better chance of getting hurt. But I guess it shows you're hustling or something.

Gordo, in a pre-game commentary on interleague play, just gave the Twins a sweep of Colorado. I sure hope he's right.

Anybody else listening to the radio? Gordo's voice did not have it's usual enthusiasm in the introduction. I don't know if he's tired or sick or what, but he did not sound like he usually does to me.

couscous salad tonight:
a cup of couscous,
1 carrot shredded,
1 zucchini shredded,
1 cucumber shredded,
some leftover corn,
2 green onions, chopped,
1 cup of peas,
2 cloves of garlic, minced fine
2 Tbsp minced parsley
1/2 inch piece of ginger, minced fine
1-2 Tbsp pickled ginger (the pink kind, for color contrast)

dressing:
2 Tbsp hoisin
2-3 Tbsp soy sauce
1 Tsp chili paste w/garlic
1 serrano pepper, finely minced
1 Tbsp sugar
1 Tbsp dry sherry
1/4 c canola oil
2-3 Tbsp rice wine vinegar
ground black pepper to taste

lots of color, and a room-temperature entree salad to beat the heat (100+ today in the Sactown area).

this would have been really good with halved cherry tomatoes and mebbe some shrimp, too.

to drink: New Belgium Springboard Ale: label -- 98 pct Ale brewed with Wormwood, Lycium and Schisandra; 2 pct Ale aged in Oak barrels; combines oats, ancient Chinese herbs and Mt. Hood hops ... sounds like the brewmaster had some leftovers :-)

but it's a very nice, light, unfiltered blonde with some interesting flavors.

That's good to know.

If that's the case, then something needs to be done.

He's not producing in his current spot in the order...but it's not like the Twins have the flexibility to push him down in the order, or sit him and have someone else replace him.

Maybe Span if it gets too bad?
