If we need an emergency centerfielder wouldn't Delmon be the better choice? He has got to have a little more range than Cuddy right?
Delmon wants to play every day in left field.
Casilla? Harris? Anyone? The thought of Cuddyer tracking balls in center sends chills down my spine.
If only LNP wasn't on the DL. He's played CF before,
Is Monroe unavailable?
According to LENIII, they're worried about playing him everyday in the field because of a leg injury he had in the spring.
did they just graft Rondell's legs onto Monroe?
Boof spears a hot liner for the first out.
And the second batter hits it off of Boof's shoe!
Boof still has Radke disease.
One isn't so bad, right?
I wonder if he can get a shot for that
Can't get out of the first without damage.
That commercial where Tony Oliva tells Delmon to "see ball, hit ball" would be funny if, you know, Delmon didn't swing at everything.
well, he is not the only pitcher to give up a homer to Hamilton this year
It's nice to know that keeping RonDelmon happy is the primary concern for Gardy. Wouldn't want to hurt his feelings.
Oops. The above comment should have been up higher in the thread.
That's an interesting lineup from Gardy tonight. Can we take away his dart board?
I think he uses a Wheel of Fortune type device. Spin it around and see where it lands.
I do like the way we're making Feldman work. We're showing a little patience.
There's a front moving in through here. The wind is picking up, the color of the sky is changing and it smells like rain. Good thing I got my run in already. Though this could inhibit my travel to the bar.
Now that would be a natural disaster.
Not to worry, I've got a sufficient supply in-house for an evening or two.
Well thank goodness. You must be a survivalist.
One hit apiece through 2. Too bad the Rangers' put theirs over some fencing they put up in the outfield.
That is so unfair. There oughta be a law.
Cuddy gets that first catch out of the way. always nice
Kinsler
Sigh. Both homers came with 2 outs too.
Yeah, but solo homers won't beat you.
Is that why we don't bother with them?
It must be. Now, see there, Mauer singled in a run. That's the way the game should be played. According to Doubleday.
Mauer knocks him in. sweet
evening folks.
Meat!
green light?
I hope we're getting that call on the strike two pitch to Morneau.
was the pitch that bad?
No, it was a good pitch, as far out on the black as you can get and still be a strike, and right at the knee.
Holy Joe Mauer, a run!
Just a little bit outside there.
El Canadiense Grande with his 2nd walk.
My gosh Cuddyer...you're absolutely awful.
ARRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH! "heres a line, a.. a. something went, um a past ball...." jesus john, you're killin' me smalls.
Well that was a fast half inning. Good for Boof.
Kubel might as well file homestead papers on first base.
NO WAY!
Casilla?
Casilla!
Yes. Way.
Mmmm, a Lexi Tater.
solid
CASILLA
really???!!
Not a bad time for your first hit of the year.
"Open your club face, Simpson! Use a sand wedge!"
Hmmm, Open-faced club sandwich.
Casilla!
better late than never.
"What hump?" Feldman with 81 pitches already. Only 46 strikes.
let's see if Cuddy cant drive one to the outfield this inning
To be fair, he hit the ball well in his first AB, just too close to the right fielder.
Sort of like that one, only on the other side of the fielder. And not as far.
Remember that episode of Seinfeld when Kramer goes to a fantasy baseball camp and ends up starting a beanbrawl?
And, remember the 'Bizarro episode' where Kramer's alter ego was named...Feldman?
Watch out.
I like the one about Keith Hernandez spitting on him.
classic, 'back, and to the left..."
Kramer tells the best stories
In the car just now coming home, the homer was hilarious.
Gladden: "Casilla's never gonna stick around the Majors if he can't hit the ball on the ground. He shouldn't hit a flyball."
crack of the bat in the background
Morris (chuckling): That flyball looks just fine.
Yeah, Morris was just saying how Casilla needs to make more contact than he has. Gladden added "on the ground." Casilla homered and Morris said, "OK, I'll shut up now."
The only good thing about Gladden doing pbp is Morris doing the color.
Delmon with another triple. Holy smokes, he has got to be the team leader in that category
He got a little help from the Texas defense.
well, Im listning to the radio and Dazzle is on lead vocals. I really don't know whats going on.
This appears to be his 3rd triple, un-tying him with GoGo to take sole possession of the team lead.
If only Delmon Young and Matt Garza were as good as Josh Hamilton and Edinson Volquez.
w00t!
if only we could have done that yesterday, my sunburn would have been worth it.
Jon Lester threw a no hitter against the Royals tonight. 130 pitches, 2 walks
If only Carlos Gomez and Hummulvuerra were as good as Ellsbury and Lester.
if only I had a million dollars.
Tonights clubhouse spread was grilled chicken, fettuccine alfredo, steamed green beans and baby carrots, and garlic bread. I'm stuffed.
any good hooch to drink with all that?
Just diet Dr. Pepper tonight.
that'll do.
Chicken and rice, protein shake, and High Life
tremendous!
Chicken salad sandwich, little bag of chips, Coke, Little Debbie snack cake.
I really do 'brown bag' it every night. I need a chef
Boy Boof, way to help yourself out there.
B/oof
I just read your headline on RR, I had forgotten about brace, and excellent Baseball pic. I had a similar experience when I first saw a RR in person, beautiful and ugly in the same stroke-
I wasn't crazy about some of his later work, but the stuff from 1950 -1970 is straight cash, homey.
Saw a group show at the Temporary Contemporary (MOCA) in LA in 2000(?) Had a whole room full of combines. Pretty spectacular. (The rest of the show wasn't too shabby either; deKooning, Franz Kline, Robert Frank, John Chamberlain and perhaps most spectacularly, a wall of red and yellow Rothkos.)
Saw the RR retrospective at the Met about 2 years ago, mostly combines- still in my mind
Really wanted to get out for that show, but I just couldn't swing it.
Jeepers, nice fundamentals guys. At least we still have the lead
Snakebit. This team is snakebit.
I have had about enough Bonser as I can handle.
You're going to run out of players to hate pretty soon, Stat. There's only 25 on the roster.
There are a few that will never reach that level.
This season, the likes of Cuddyer, Young, and Bonser have been doing everything they could to reach that level though.
I seem to recall Lamb and Everett getting your attention, too. And Crain. And Rincon. Who am I missing?
