Cup of CoffeeWolves lose again by 22, Kevin Love down to 17 minutes. This is the worst possible situation for the Wolves. They are driving what is left of their fan base with a tremendous stretch of terrible basketball. Their best, or second-best, player has checked out and is getting buried on the bench. I doubt that Love is in their long term plans. How's that O.J. Mayo deal looking now? Citizens Online37 Users Online WGOM Sign InLog InRetired WGOM Jokes

Man, I went to bed last night at just about the wrong time, didn't I?
Lester No-Hit the Royals, which means that JoePos was there.
Tangentally related - I am Facebook friends with JoePos.
Man, and he ignored my request for an interview.
Did you try mentioning that you knew Andrew?
If the Knicks get the first pick, I'm demanding a Congressional investigation. If the Wolves get it, I'm painting the front door of my house with lamb's blood.
And yes, Andrew, you did. I hope the boss (and the boss's boss, and the boss's boss's boss) appreciate your dedication. In fact, you might want to point out to them that you stopped swilling hard liquor before midnight so you'd be at your best today.
I'd also like to point out the timely deployment of the rally cap last night. It has awesome and mysterious powers. But like Death Blossom, it is a weapon of last resort.
I think it's highly unlikely that the lottery is gamed. However, it would be a nice little piece of transparency if the NBA just showed the lottery balls, instead of having the process done in relative secrecy. They do have observers, but still, why not have the thing on TV like the Powerball drawing?
It is just a matter of time before that shows up on NBATV or ESPN6 or summat. Whoo! The excitement!
mebbe they could get GreekHouse to do the play-by-play!
That is no fun. I want ping pong balls with little Timberwolves logos on them.
the T-Wolves sent a couple ping pong ball with thier logo on it to the radio station I work at. The sports director is a huge Wolves fan, so i dont think I can pry them from his hands for ya
I found out last night that my friend from KC is coming up tonight to visit my friend who just moved back to town after a year at the Univeristy of Northern Michigan. The two of them are going on a motorcycle trip for Memorial Day. They are going to come hang out at rugby tonight. My point, I guess, is that I'll get my partying in tonight. And the thing of it was that the bigwigs were here so early that I was still sleepy. I could have been hungover and I would hardly have seemed any different.
Sorry I've been mostly absent lately. Had great friends from LA visit for a few days (they were the ones that set up my wife and I), and we've been giving them the tour of StL. Beautiful weather, and my post-oak-allergy-season cough held off almost long enough.
My buddy is a Dodgers fan (and last name Young, so must be a ½ Chinese cousin of Will & Delmon), and it was fun to talk baseball and use stats like OPS and FIP, and terms like TINSTAPP. And compare less-than-adequate players on each team. And, he knew of Bat-Girl.
Scooby Doo alert: Huh?
Peter King, when discussing the NE Patriots 2008 schedule:
What team would be their old friends from Long Island? The Giants? or The Jets? Each team plays in New Jersey. I'm not sure (actually, I am) but I think Long Island is in New York and that no NFL team plays there.
I'm guessing thats a reference to their SuperBowl loss.
the Islanders?
(actually, he's referring to the Jests, whose
firstsecond home was Shea Stadium and whose headquarters/training facilities are in Hempstead)No East Coast bias at SI!
hey, Brooklyn is on the West Coast of Long Island!
Not good news for a giant in American politics.
Sad news for the Kennedy family, again. Just as sad, or even sadder, are several of the hateful reader comments in response to the article. Some people are just devoid of any sense of common decency.
Nothing attracts the crazies like comment sections on a MSM webpage.
Liriano pitched seven full innings but did not figure in the decision in his Red Wings start at Syracuse today. He gave up 2 earned runs on 8 hits, with 1 walk and 3 strikeouts, to lower his minor league ERA to 3.93 on the season. The Red Wings lost 2-3 in ten innings. His last two starts have been encouraging, as are reports that his fastball is clocking in the low 90s, but I hope the Twins don't try to rush him back. I'd like to see him continue to build up his arm strength for another month or two before facing major league hitting again.
I need him to pitch another 90 innings in Minnesota to win a $5 bet, so let's not let him sit down in Rochester until September.
Barring any physical issues I'd expect to see him back right after the All-Star break. Baker, though, apparently had another setback in his bullpen session yesterday and still has soreness in his groin. According to Rotoworld, he may not be back for another month, and maybe longer since you never can tell with that kind of injury. Gardy's quoted as saying until he's throwing bullpens with no soreness he won't take the next step in his rehab. That means Slowey and Perkins stay in the rotation for at least 4-5 more starts. Overall this season, pitching has been our most consistent strength, which could be faint praise when you consider our offense and defense, but one or two more injuries could change that in a hurry. We're relying on 3 rookies to hold down the back end of our rotation, who knows how long Livan's magic will last, Boof has been anything but dominating, we've lost Neshek for the season, Rincon is a major liability, and Gardy won't use Nathan unless it's a save situation or a state of national emergency. So we may see Franciso back in Minnesota sooner than later.
Mike Piazza makes it official. He's hanging up his cleats for good.
He had a nice run
the cover of this weeks Sports Illustrated is pretty sweet
