davidwatts

Bradley had a pitch called strike three. He was barking at the ump from teh dugout. When the radio came back from commercial break, Gordo was describing that Washington was in the umps grill, then he got tossed

So, Gomez leads the AL in infield hits. That's kind of a dubious distinction.

davidwatts
davidwatts replied on May 21st, 2008 at 7:57 pm

according to FanGraphs (I forgot who pointed me to that website, but thank you! I dont understand everything on there, but I love looking at it. One day all that stuff will soak in)

anywho.. according to FanGraphs, coming into todays game Gomez had 7 infield hits, placing him tied for 5th in AL IF. Gomez does lead all of baseball with 9 bunt hits

twayn
twayn replied on May 21st, 2008 at 8:05 pm

FSN crew added them together to get 16. I guess a bunt hit seldom gets to the outfield.

8th inning trivia: Tonight, in the 3rd inning of my softball game, in my only AB in the inning, I hit a SF, yet I scored twice in the inning -- how? btw, the OF did not drop the SF.

Big Mak
Big Mak replied on May 21st, 2008 at 9:31 pm

enter as a pinch runner, score.
lineup bats around to the initial spot, hit a SF.... hmm
reach on catcher's interference? not recorded as a plate appearance, score.

that's the best I got.

davidwatts
davidwatts replied on May 21st, 2008 at 9:36 pm

I think you are right Mak

Rhubarb_Runner
Rhubarb_Runner replied on May 21st, 2008 at 9:37 pm

not bad! I was the last out of the previous inning, so when our gimpy catcher got on, I pinch ran and scored. Then hit the SF. And lastly, when batting around, that SF was the last out prior to the gimpy catcher getting a second hit, in which I pinch ran again and scored once more.

Thus ends my attempt to take attention away from a sickening ballgame.

This was exactly what we were supposed to get from Ponson last year. The Texas pitching coach doesn't exactly have a great reputation and I doubt he's better than Andy at coaxing the most out of these guys, I wonder what's different for Ponson this year compared to last?
