look! its not raining!
for time in what seems like a month this has happened
happy Monday
It would be happier if the Twins were off today instead of playing a makeup game with the Sox.* Looks like we'll see Macri starting at 3B instead of Lamb today, according to Twinspropaganda.com. This team is pretty much a mess right now, so if we could just play a close game today I'd be happy.
*Note to Perkins: Throw every pitch hard inside until they hit one out, then plunk the next batter. Except for Crede. Just walk his on-fire @ss already.
here is the way I am looking at it
there are 99 games left this year. We've played bad for a week. We still have time to turn it around.
And if the season is a lost cause, at least out pitchers are getting major league innings under thier belts (now the qulaity of those innings might be a different issue, but I want to wear rose colored glasses today
)
I don't expect us to be this bad the rest of the season, of course. And on the bright side, I did get a lot of work done around the house this weekend. Also, it's been so wet that I have mushrooms growing in my yard. Lots of mushrooms, most likely the poison kind. But I'm not tempted to eat them - yet.
On another note, Sox Machine has a little sidebar on his blog called The Maple Bat Death Toll, where he keeps track of the Sox exploding maple bats on a spreadsheet. I didn't see it myself, but this entry from the weekend sort of stood out:
6/7/2008 vs. Minnesota, Inning/8, Batter/Swisher, Pitcher/Bonser, Direction of Shard/Nearly impaled the second baseman.
right on. When things get bad, I always think at least its not as bad as the late 90's. man, that was a tough time being a Twins fan
As a guy who also follows the Royals, it's very possible we could be saying
"there are 89 games left this year. We've played bad for a two weeks. We still have time to turn it around."
and
"And if the season is a lost cause, at least out pitchers are getting major league innings under thier belts"
sounds a lot like "we're findoug out what we've got in the minors"
The rain here has been really bad. Saylorville Reservoir is close to it's record capacity. People are really worried about even worseflooding if there's anymore rain. Half of the state seems to be on flood warnings at any given time.
Albert Lea missed out on a lot of the rain (still saw about an inch and a half over the weekend) but only 15 minutes south, there is some serious flooding. They must of saw 7-8-9 inches of rain over the weekend. Saturday saw big time hail (3 inches I saw one report) and a few tornados.
Mason City and another town (Nora Springs if I remember right) seeing big time flooding because of breeches in some levees. Mason City, the water plant is shut down and has been since Sunday. Its the worst flooding there on record, something like 3 1/2 feet above the record flood set back in the 1930's. Its insane
I'm starting to think that defense is as important as offense in the NBA. Who woulda thunk it?
we need a happy choon after a beatdown in Chicago
