Considering the Wolves PG situation I'm surprised they didn't offer it to Bassy too. The qualifying offer is just one year, kinda like an arbitration offer in baseball right?

This, I believe, makes Bassy an unrestricted FA and I can't believe he'd a.) be able to find a team that'd bring him in to start, or b.) find many teams that would allow him to play as many minutes off the bench (sliding Foye over to the 2) as the Wolves, so maybe McHale is banking on him choosing the Wolves as his best situation playing time wise.

Unless someone offers Gomes a ridiculous contract I fully expect him to be back, same goes for Smith, and I don't think there is much of a market for Richard so he'll most likely be back.

From Zgoda's column:

The Wolves won't make restricted free agent Sebastian Telfair a qualifying offer because they're unwilling to guarantee him $3.5 million a season, so a point guard who started for the Wolves for the first three months last season is free to sign with any team starting Tuesday. Wittman said he'd like three players -- a veteran backup and perhaps a rookie who can play both guard spots -- from which to choose at point guard.

Too bad a rookie who can play both guard spots wasn't available in the 2nd round!

and too bad a veteran PG wasn't available from the Spurs in a trade for an order of nachos and a soda last preseason!

For all the raving that I've heard about the Wolves draft, I just cannot get my arms around that Chalmers deal. Yep, Glen Taylor got to put $2 million into his pocket. That's the big deal.

The Wolves must be really set on using Foye as their PG, which doesn't make sense given that he's shown he's much better at the 2. With Jaric gone and Bassy likely on his way out, this leaves the team with exactly 0 backups at the PG spot. I guess we can expect a crappy signing of some kind in the near future.

I was going to suggest Earl Boykins, until I looked at his stats. No thanks.
