It was like the fastball was rising, and with the uppercut swing the ball just kept hitting the top of bats. The pitch to Teagarden was fairly straight and at the knees. It sort of sucked when your pitcher would get a bit wild, but we never had the issues you mentioned above. On another note, when I used to pitch fastpitch softball, I would bean people who refused to lift the bat off their shoulder for a few at bats. It saved me some pitches, pissed off the other team, and made me feel better as well.
