This 1991 SI's cover story is titled "A Series to Savor" and is found on pages 16-27: In a seven game World Series replete with extra-inning heroics, the Twins rallied to beat the Braves. Photos include a sweet photo of Lonnie Smith laying out Brian Harper, the 000-000-000-0 scoreboard, Kirby's classic Game 6 fistpump, and Hrbie laying one on his wife, and additional articles on Morris' Game 7 performance, and the Braves - one run short.
Additional articles of note include:
-
Clemson defeats NC State in football
-
pro football quarterback's passing problems
-
Dan Marino's fading Super Bowl opportunities
-
Seton Hall's Maro Lokar, and his home country of Slovenia
-
Links found between Don King and the mob

Here's the beauty of this particular SI cover: while the untitled photo on the front pretty much says it all, it's another gatefold! The far right side spells "TWINS" down the edge, colored so the letters "W I N" stand out.

I'm too young to remember the roster (and the DVD set isn't out yet).
Who is #0?
Junior Ortiz
I wonder if some people feel like they didn't "deserve" their World Series rings due to what a horrible season they had. I think they might justify it by saying, "Well, I did have that one game-winning RBI. And that one day I went three for four." Or perhaps, "I was a good defensive catcher and I was a good mentor for Brian Harper."
When one of my house basketball teams as a kid finished 4th in a league tournament, I got a trophy but I can't say I was much proud of it. I scored four points all season and sat the bench as much was allowed. Still, it was fun winning games despite my talents.
