Deep Purple — Highway Star

Live, 1972. Wowza. Lead singer Ian Gillan was also the original "Jesus" in Jesus Christ Superstar.

One of my older brothers had Machinehead (on 8-track, no less.) Even as a 12-year-old kid, I recognized this for what it was: sub-standard wankery. Most of my distaste stemmed from the lead singer. Watching this clip 30-some years later, my opinion remains unchanged.

God must've been ticked off that this clod played his Son.

  • I forget how it started, but for some reason we decided that one of my cats is a Deep Purple fanatic. So, naturally I played this video for her.

Misty gives this video: two indifferent flicks of the ear. (See? She loves it!)
