The Story of the MINNESOTA TWINS

About the Author: Nate LeBoutillier has written several sporting and non-sporting books for children. I found it interesting his mention in this article.

About the book: This is another of several books for written for children about MLB baseball teams. The book is oversized (but thin), and is filled with beautiful photos (some one or two-page spreads), and stories about the team history, including topics such as origins, post-season, contraction, Dome-field advantage, and some historical feats, plus a page for the pick Twin from each position. An index is also included.

Personal notes:
- This really is a nice little book. If you know of any young Twins fan, this would make a fine Christmas gift, for instance.
- Creative Education is based in Mankato.
- Which Twin was chosen to be featured at each position?
- Pitcher: Bert Blyleven
- Catcher: Earl Battey
- First: Kent Hrbek
- Second: Rod Carew
- Third: Harmon Killebrew
- Short: Zoilo Versalles
- Leftfield: Bob Allison
- Centerfield: Kirby Puckett
- Rightfield: Tony Oliva
- Manager: Tom Kelly
Those who were left out still had photos and sometimes a note or two, including Gaetti, Brunansky, Liriano, Santana, Mauer, Hunter, Chili Davis, Viola, Morris, etc. (plus Morneau on the book cover, of course).
- I found it interesting that there was a special page on the Millers and Saints, but only a minor mention of the Washington Senators.

Who is that? <- My initial reaction.
Completely thrown off by the cover with Morneau wearing his old number.
That was my reaction, too.
Although this is a new publication, Mauer and Morneau didn't get a whole lot of play in it (for instance, Mauer could have easily been the pick Twin instead of Battey, but I think that is a point in the book's favor, that it favored more historical than current players. Of course, the positions those pick Twins were at weren't at all their primary career positions, but I guess it helped the author to include "the greats" more thoroughly.
