For reasons beyond me, the game between the Seattle Mariners and Minnesota Twins is blacked out in Buffalo, NY today.

Glad to see that I have mlb.tv

meat replied on August 16, 2008 at 3:45:47 pm

Yeah, blacked out for me too, seems like a good idea, black out those who can't possibly see the game anywhere else. Thanks mlb.tv.

socaltwinsfan replied on August 16, 2008 at 3:56:42 pm

All day games on Saturdays are blacked out because of Fox's "national" broadcast which are all regional, which is really stupid. The Mariners, A's, and Angels all have games on Fox. I of course have the Angels on Fox, which I can see every day regardless if they are on Fox or not. A lot of good that does me.

Coaching visit to decide how to pitch to Everett....

E-6 replied on August 16, 2008 at 3:28:39 pm

Nice footwork by Everett on that DP. Harris does not make that play.

FirstTimeLongTime replied on August 16, 2008 at 3:29:09 pm

Alright gents, carry this one on for us this afternoon.

twayn replied on August 16, 2008 at 3:29:50 pm

For all the hype, Light Rail is just not that efficient.

E-6 replied on August 16, 2008 at 3:35:30 pm

He's allowing too many riders.

twayn replied on August 16, 2008 at 3:33:44 pm

Inconceivable. How did Beltre know the bunt was coming?

Beau replied on August 16, 2008 at 3:36:12 pm

Wow, Span with a great steal off a lefty. No chance to get him

twayn replied on August 16, 2008 at 3:43:13 pm

Delmon got robbed on that call at 2B. Robbed, I say.

Beau replied on August 16, 2008 at 3:44:25 pm

Unless his leg skipped over the base right when the tag was made. No good replay, but my gut says terrible call. Ah well, no big deal.

brianS replied on August 16, 2008 at 3:55:11 pm

meat replied on August 16, 2008 at 3:59:35 pm

brianS replied on August 16, 2008 at 3:57:57 pm

btw, I totally screwed up yesterday. The A's on thursday announced a $1/ticket special for certain seats on Aug. 29 (vs. Twins) in honor of Brad Ziegler's record for "run-less" innings to start a ML career, with tickets going on sale yesterday morning. Damn.

E-6 replied on August 16, 2008 at 3:59:25 pm

Bases loaded and no outs for the A's in the third. Gogogogo!!!

GreekHouse replied on August 16, 2008 at 4:10:53 pm

I've noticed that innings that involve Mauer or Morneau at the plate seem to result in more runs. You guys think there's anything to that?

socaltwinsfan replied on August 16, 2008 at 4:15:44 pm

I thought it was all about the bunts.

socaltwinsfan replied on August 16, 2008 at 4:21:33 pm

Scott Baker the double play maker. That will help keep the pitch count down.

twayn replied on August 16, 2008 at 4:35:35 pm

brianS replied on August 16, 2008 at 4:38:28 pm

Jesse coming in. Hopefully, they won't try to sweep the leg.

meat replied on August 16, 2008 at 4:42:46 pm

Apparently gardy doesn't remember the bullpen demoralizing 10 run inning, I think that I would have left Baker in for at least one more batter.

socaltwinsfan replied on August 16, 2008 at 4:59:20 pm

No, he remembers leaving in Perkins far too long and letting the Mariners back in the game. The only complaint I have today about Gardy is pitching to Ichiro with a base open. I don't care if he's 1 for his last 50, you don't let Ichiro beat you in that situation.

socaltwinsfan replied on August 16, 2008 at 4:41:22 pm

11 Base runners in 5 1/3 innings for Baker. Not a good outing. A base runner in every inning against a poor offensive team.

Rhubarb_Runner replied on August 16, 2008 at 4:42:25 pm

Boy, I hate to see our starters coming out before the 6th...

Rhubarb_Runner replied on August 16, 2008 at 4:43:32 pm

GreekHouse replied on August 16, 2008 at 4:50:28 pm

meat replied on August 16, 2008 at 4:50:55 pm

Could Dyoung have gotten to that ball?

twayn replied on August 16, 2008 at 4:57:21 pm

Gomez or Span could have, but no way Young gets to it.

Guppy replied on August 16, 2008 at 4:51:26 pm

There's no fucking excuse for this bullshit. The Twins have gotten lazy in this game. We need Morneau to step it up.

Geoff replied on August 16, 2008 at 4:51:28 pm

God hopefully we can hold them under 10.........

meat replied on August 16, 2008 at 4:52:12 pm

well, that was 40% less disappointing than that other inning.

Guppy replied on August 16, 2008 at 4:53:33 pm

Can you believe Rowland-Smith is in line for the win? Incredible.

brianS replied on August 16, 2008 at 4:53:57 pm

twayn replied on August 16, 2008 at 4:55:06 pm

Beau replied on August 16, 2008 at 4:56:52 pm

GreekHouse replied on August 16, 2008 at 5:02:54 pm

brianS replied on August 16, 2008 at 4:57:13 pm

That's Skanberg-level quality. Well done by friend Sox Machine.

twayn replied on August 16, 2008 at 5:01:02 pm

I hate to bring it up now, but that bad out call on Young at 2B did cost us a run in this game. Didn't look like it would matter at the time, but it sure does now.

socaltwinsfan replied on August 16, 2008 at 5:09:25 pm

Yeah, and I've always felt that an early five-run lead is a trap waiting to happen. It's just big enough to start feeling comfortable because the game can't be tied on one swing, but it takes very little to get two or three runs and suddenly the trailing team has all the momentum and the leading team will often start to panic.

Geoff replied on August 16, 2008 at 5:02:33 pm

Theres a good solid come from behind inning......

socaltwinsfan replied on August 16, 2008 at 5:06:41 pm

Twins haven't lost a home game after having a lead of at least 3 runs since June 30 when they blew a 4-1 lead to (surprise) Detroit.

Beau replied on August 16, 2008 at 5:07:41 pm

Good inning by Breslow. May be what the Twins need to get their heads back in this game

meat replied on August 16, 2008 at 5:07:54 pm

I'm predicting a run here. just one. no more. one. only.

Geoff replied on August 16, 2008 at 5:10:07 pm

Ill make it 2.

meat replied on August 16, 2008 at 5:11:29 pm

Dread Pirate Will Young replied on August 16, 2008 at 6:39:57 pm

The only place I actively avoid is Old Navy. I'm still pissed at them for those godawful "Performance Fleece" commercials from the late 90s. I did boycott Subway for awhile ("just wrap it up, just wrap it up!").

Basically, I could care less about your politics as long as your commercials are not cringe-worthy.

The highest point in advertising history has to be the Eastern Motors commercials:

(Comments wont nest below this level)
cheaptoy replied on August 16, 2008 at 6:55:04 pm

Wow. I'm ready to buy a car from Eastern Motors after that.

I think I agree with you on the commercials thing. I'd submit that boycotting Subway now for their five dollar footlong commercials would be valid.
