The robot doing the MLB.com pregame for yesterdays game called Liriano 'Nelson'.

This note on the Twins in the USA Today power rankings (fwiw):

August staff ERA of 3.41 was the AL's best.

Typical: I'm in Omaha next Mon/Tue and have the opportunity to watch the Twins Mon. night on a nearby restaraunt's MLB package...but it's an off day. Phooey

!?!?!?!

• Four of the six walk-off losses the Twins have suffered this season came on this road trip. Five have come since Aug. 10. Two have come off Jesse Crain, with the rest off Juan Rincon, Craig Breslow, Joe Nathan and Boof Bonser.

Rincon is the only one before Aug 10

Rhubarb, the Phillies/Mets game has been cancelled. Hopefully that means they'll show the Twins on Fox this afternoon. Although St. Louis being a NL town, they might stick with the D-backs Dodgers. Go figure that the other two games this weekend are both very close races.

I really hate the Fox games. All I ever get is whoever the Angels or Dodgers are playing, which defeats the purpose of this because it's supposed to allow fans to see games for free they wouldn't normally see. I can watch Dodgers and Angels games every day. Then any game being played at the same time is blacked out on mlb.tv, which I paid for to watch out-of-market games.

Thanks for the heads-up, pb! I'm thinking it'll be the NL game, too, but I have my fingers crossed.

Central Illinois played the Dodgers/D-backs too. Though knowing now the result of the Twins game, maybe that's for the better.

SBG Nation Citizen Andrew Kneeland has started a series about the greatest pitching rotations of all-time. Go give it a read!

I hate reading comments (in the STrib - I know, I know!) where people are disappointed that when the Twins play the ChiSox, they won't have the opportunity to beat them with their full compliment of stars, what with Crede and Quentin out. Of course, my thoughts immediately were, okay, I don't think the Sox are disappointed to be playing us with out Cuddyer and Neshek, are they?!

How many wins has Pat Neshek's injury cost the Twins this year?

And now for something completely different: green polar bears.

Those pictures remind me of Eduardo Kac's GFP bunny, Alba. Transgenic art at it's best.
