Whoa God only knows, God makes his plan
The information's unavailable to the mortal man
Were workin' our jobs, collect our pay
Believe we're gliding down the highway, when in fact we're slip sliding away.

I love it when someone quotes a song that's old enough for me to know.
A reference to the division title...no? In the interest of maintaining my mental health, I prefer to look at the Twins season through the eyes of Marley. "Baby don't worry, bout a thing. Cause every little things, gonna be alright."
Stick, were those lyrics in regards to the Twins--or Wall Street?
Perhaps you were refering to the Bison's season...down to their 3rd and 4th string tailback, after all.
Are the rest of you having trouble with getting booted off? I'm having to re-log in very, very often. Twice already today. Perhaps Wordpress is trying to tell me something.
Thundar will step up and lead the team.
Paranoia strikes deep in the heartland
But I think it's all overdone
Exaggerating this and exaggerating that
They don't have no fun
I don't believe what I read in the papers
They're just out to capture my dime
I ain't worrying
And I ain't scurrying
I'm having a good time
In a completely unsurprising choice, I will opt for these lyrics
when the chaperone crowned us the king and the queen
i knew that we'd arrived at a unified scene
and all those little lambs from my dreams
well they were there too
cause its one thing to start it with a positive jam
and its another thing to see it all through
and we couldn't of even done this if it wasn't for you
we gotta stay positive
we gotta stay positive
we gotta stay positive
Hopefully we'll all be saying something like
I was a skeptic at first, but these miracles work
Is it legal to link to a poll of economists on their opinion of the candidates or would that be politics?
The poll was commissioned by Dilbert. Does that change anything?
I was in a resident's room just now, and she was watching the Twins. I saw Slowey pitching, and I said, "you're watching last night's game." She said, "No I'm not, this is happening right now." I quickly looked at the inning and the batter and said, "Well, if that's true, tell me how I know Kelly Shoppach is going to hit a home run on the next pitch?"
After the ball sailed over Span's glove she said, "Well, I'm not going to watch them lose again!" and shut it off. She thanked me for saving her time and I told her what time today's game started. Man, the problems I have to resolve as a social worker.
Out of towners note, Twins-Rays on ESPN on Friday night.
Hell Yes. Twins in HD.
And I thought I was old: scientists discover 120 million-year-old ant.
I notice that nobody here has mentioned the death of David Foster Wallace in an apparent suicide. I knew of Wallace primarily by reputation, having read just one of his short stories and one of his essays, so I'm not really that familiar with his work. What I have read was impressive. Are there any DFW fans here, and if so can you provide me with some suggested reading? Perhaps something a little less initially imposing than Infinite Jest. Maybe one of his short story collections?
I will definitely get ripped for this (and deservedly so) but the first thing I thought when I heard of his death was "Is that the guy that wrote all the theme songs from 80's movies?"
He was great as the CFO in The Office.
THAT'S where I've heard that name before. Thanks Moss.
here's some cool stuff on counter-intelligence.
Take the test.
"Most adults will be correct approximately 75% of the time. Take the test at least 25 times to get a good estimate of your performance"
25 tests - 84% correct. I think this test really played into one of my strengths. I often take mental pictures then do thinking on the picture in my head. In this case, I could count in my head instead of trying to count the dots as they flash on and off the screen.
Also, I totally thought "counter-intelligence" meant "anti-spy"
Also, I totally thought "counter-intelligence" meant "anti-spy"
heh. sneaky of me.
I was at 88 pct. I'm expecting like 150 pct for GreekHouse.
I got 84%, which means 21 of 25. But, I got 2 of the first 3 wrong. So, after assimilating myself to the test, I got 20 of the next 22, and both of those were when there were just one different.
I don't see a game log, kids. Who's It?? (I can't do it today). Game time is in half an hour.
My fault.
(in)famous premature TD celebrations.
Raise your hand with me if you remember watching then-rookie Sammy White raise the ball over his head in one hand as he approached the goal line for what would have been one of his first NFL TDs??? [apparently it was against Detroit. the great Lem Barney ran him down from behind]
I will never forget that one. Nor the fact that he kept the ball safely tucked away every time thereafter in his career.
*raises hand
I remember Bud showing his displeasure by chewing his gum just a little bit harder. I do recall the offensive coordinator being a bit more demonstrative. Guy by the name of Jerry Burns...
FWIW, Sammy White is one of my all-time favorite Vikings.
*raises hand in solidarity with Mr. White
