Here's a question...
If the Twins had dealt for Jon Lester, and he preformed close to what he did for the Red Sox, do the Twins make the postseason assuming everything else stays the same?

This isn't really an answer to your question, but my opinion is that the Red Sox were never really in the Santana market; they were only "in it" to drive the Yankees' costs up.
Otherwise, I guess there's other things to consider:
1) How would the whole rotation have looked? Would BS still have signed Livan? Livan, Baker, Slowey, Boof, Lester to start the season? Or Blackburn/Perkins instead of Livan (I find this doubtful, personally)? Maybe Perkins all year out of the bullpen?
2) How would the OF defense have ended up? I don't know how Span has ended up looking metrically, but assuming he could approximate at least 50-75% of Gomez's CF defensive value, that still would've left big problems in both left and right for the whole season.
That's just off the top of my head...

Nice work with the screen captures. Saves a lot of typing, eh?

Once again, the TV and radio are pretty well in sync. TBS apparently doesn't have as much of a delay as FSN. They don't have Bert doing (off) color commentary, either, which may explain this.

Both teams missed chances to score in the first inning.

FOTF misses an opportunity (although he came through earlier).

Manny who?

He's too selfish. Only had a solo homer.

That Matthews Jr. incident was almost Lew Ford-ian. S*** happens in more ballparks than just the Metrodome.
