The Phoenix Desert Dogs evened their record with a 7-5 win over Mesa yesterday. Rob Delaney became the first Twins' pitcher to see action, giving up one run on two hits while pitching the eighth. He struck out one. All three Twins' position players contributed to a three-run first inning: Steve Tolleson had an RBI single, Danny Valencia a ground-rule double, and Dustin Martin a two-run double. For the game, Tolleson was 1-for-3 with two walks, Valencia 1-for-4, and Martin 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored.
Twins' minor league system ranked first in the AL by The Baseball Analysts and second in baseball to the Reds. Good thing the Reds got rid of Wayne Krivsky. He was holding them back.
Like one guy in the comments there said, those hardly seem to be "system" rankings, but rather "which teams had lots of young guys help them this year". Some of the players mentioned can hardly be called products of the Twins' system anyway (Breslow and Gomez) or only in a pretty stretched way (Bass, and he isn't any good either).
yeah, I thought the same thing, although Buscher came to mind first to me.
Someone stole my favorite pen. grrr.
I note that the Twins have exercised the option on Mike Redmond for 2009. Not that it's a big surprise or anything, but I thought I'd mention it.
he only played in 38 games last year. I find that pretty amazing.
Closed circuit to E-6: nicely played (or scheduled, as it were).
