It's time to get this WGOM moving again.
And what better way than with a new LittlegirlSBG picture?
She's growing up fast!
I think she's out of context on a half-baked site. But darn cute!
ditto. Great picture.
The Desert Dogs' game last night was suspended in the bottom of the eleventh inning due to a power outage.
It does not look good for the Desert Dogs. Scottsdale is batting, and has two on with no one out in a tie game. Tim Lahey came on to start the eleventh. The first batter reached on an error and stole second. A walk put runners on first and second when the power went out.
Jeff Manship started the game and pitched four innings, giving up four runs, two earned, on five hits and a walk. He did strike out eight. Steven Tolleson was the only Twins position player to start--he went 1-for-5 with a walk and a run scored. Dustin Martin pinch-hit and grounded out. Danny Valencia pinch-hit and walked.
No results were yet available on Aragua's game the last time I checked.
what a cutie!
Yeah, now that the election is over, I can move on to other interests. I was such an election junkie the past 2 months.
SBG, I will try to get some wine and movie reviews going again.
It was a bad summer in the zooomx household starting with being short-handed at work. I have been riding 6 day weeks for a while. On top of that our basement flooded (faulty sump pump switch) and a pipe blew open in or master bedroom wall within a week of each other. To top it off, the jack@ss that built this house decided to wire the telephone wires himself and screwed it all up, so we had to re-wire all the low voltage too.
As a result, I not only had little chance to put together content for the site, but also rarely had access or time to even read and comment.
Things are looking better now... I am looking forward to beer reviews, book reviews, notes from the ditch, etc.
From what some of my friends tell me, and from stories like these, it sounds like the worst thing to happen to houses are previous owners. One of my friends had his basement flood because the previous owner knew there was a problem and did a half-assed, cheap, quick fix of using a sealant paint instead of actually fixing the problem.
Makes me glad I'm my house's first owner. Now I can do dumb stuff for whoever buys it next.
Some AFL stats, through twenty-six games:
Steven Tolleson is batting .413 with an OBP of .451 and a SLG of .587. He has two homers, nineteen RBIs and seventeen runs scored. Dustin Martin is hitting .296, OBP .387, SLG .383, one homer, ten RBIs, fourteen runs scored. Danny Valencia is batting .233, OBP .275, SLG .291, no homers, five RBIs, seven runs scored.
Among pitchers, Jeff Manship is 2-1, 5.04, 25 IP, 25 K, 1.36 WHIP. Tim Lahey is 1-1, 1 save, 1.04 ERA, 8.2 IP, 5 K, 1.50 WHIP. Rob Delaney is 0-1, 8.10, 6.2 IP, 6 K, 1.80 WHIP. Anthony Slama is 0-0, 1 save, 5.06 ERA, 5.1 IP, 6 K, 2.06 WHIP.
Some Venezuela stats, through seventeen games:
Bobby Korecky, 0-1, 10.13, 8 IP, 7K, 2.00 WHIP. Jose Mijares, 1-0, 1 save, 0.00 ERA, 5.2 IP, 6 K, 1.24 WHIP. Carmen Cali, 0-0, 1 save, 1.69 ERA, 5.1 IP, 5 K, 1.13 WHIP.
For those of you that get MN Conservation Volunteer, check out the Nov-Dec copy for a great insert of
Jim Brandenburg photos.
Joe C. asks, and I wonder as well, is Casey Blake the answer?
Ultimately, I guess I don't know how much of an upgrade he would be over Buscher. Whereas he won't cost prospects like Atkins/Hardy/etc his price tag might get a little steep.
Any thoughts?
Blake is coming on his age-35 season, with consecutive OPS+ marks of 110, 101, 114, 99, 122, and 93 in all of his full-time seasons (counting backwards). 765 OPS against righties and 823 against lefties.Corey Koskie without the clubhouse pranks. Meh. If he came cheap....
That is one cute little girl, Stick.
Aragua scored three in the fifth Friday night to defeat Zulia 4-2. Bobby Korecky came on in the fifth with two on and one out and retired both batters he faced. He also pitched a scoreless sixth, walking one. Carmen Cali started the seventh and lasted two-thirds of an inning, giving up two singles but no runs. Jose Mijares came on to pitch a perfect ninth, striking out one, to get his second save.
I'm kind of a sucker for stories about old ballplayers. If you are, too, you might enjoy this article about Bob Feller.
I don't know who the Iowa State radio broadcasters are, but apparently they're college football's answer to Gordo and Dazzle. Here's the description of a Colorado field goal attempt:
"The ball is down, the kick is up and he booms it. Straight down the middle, and no good, wide left."
Iowa State came up big at the end of the game again. It is the second 4th quarter I've watched this year and they've blown leads in both of them.
a pretty underwhelming performance from the Maroon and Gold this week. Still sitting at 7-2 on the year, gotta win next week
Make that 7-3.
Actually, philosophically, it's hard to call any games at this point "must-win" any more for the Gophs. It's clear that 1) no matter what happens, they're greatly improved from last year; 2) they're already going to a bowl, and 3) that bowl will not be on New Year's Day (that fate was probably already sealed, but with Penn State's loss, it's definitely sealed).
I think I'm just trying to rationalize for myself my expectation that we will not beat Wisconsin or Iowa.
Totally depends on Eric Decker's health. Their offense has been nonexistent with him hurt. Otherwise, their only hope would be for defense and special teams to make big plays that produce points.
Brandon Roy is pretty good. I wish the Wolves could draft a player like that...
Obviously, you don't understand NBA basketball, Algonad. Kevin McHale is the best GM in sports, and he wanted Randy Foye.
"We just felt Foye had more juice...'' Kevin McHale
"Then we're gonna need a lot more vodka." E-6
Saturday, Phoenix fell to Mesa 2-1. Anthony Slama pitched this sixth inning, giving up no runs and one hit. Steven Tolleson was 0-for-3 with a walk. So was Danny Valencia. Dustin Martin was 3-for-4 with a double and a home run, accounting for the only Desert Dog run of the game.
Steven Tolleson has not been hitting since coming back from nearly a week off. His average has fallen below .400. I never did hear why he was out--if anyone knows, please share the information. We are obviously dealing with small sample sizes here, so it could just be coincidence, but his lack of hitting since his return could be an indication that he is still suffering the effects of an injury.
Aragua also lost 2-1 Saturday. No Twins pitchers appeared in the game.
Not sure if he has injury problems, but he has fielding problems...
Oh man, that Viking's game was intense.
Only one more win and they're bowl-eligible!
Ha! The state of Minnesota loves them some Motor City Bowl.
Adrian Peterson is a good at football
I know that decision to go for it on 4th down turned out to be a mistake (AP fumbled, they scored a FG after that), but I liked the decision. You only needed 2 feet, you have been cramming the ball down their throats all day, and if you dont make it, the defense was very solid.
After the conversion failed, I still felt good about winning that game
And if any benefit came out of that missed conversion, its that it seemed to really piss AP off to the point where he decided to completely take over that last drive. It was a thing of beauty.
Also, the defense put a tear in my eye during one dominant game. I just wish it would have been the blowout it should have been so I wouldn't have had to get so worked up.
Either way, it was definitely a fun game to watch.
