This series has been pretty rough for the Minnesota Boys. Its also been hard for Minnesota Fans. Bullpen help, Please?! Seriously. It’ll be a shame if the Twins wait until July to address their glaring need for a quality arm in the BP. Shapiro is also on the lookout. My money is on the Indians addressing this before the Twins do.
Obviously today would be a good day for a win, and the Twins should probably try to take the bullpen out of the game in whatever way they can. I was surprised by Burnett’s underwhelming numbers so far this year. I knew he wasn’t dealing because he certainly hasn’t helped my fantasy team so far, but an 81 tra+ is not good.
Well I have to board my flight to Fargo here at O’Hare so this’ll have to do. Grammar demons: Have at it.

Sunday is always a great day for a Twins game. Its an even better day for a Twins win. And I’ve heard that every time the Yankees lose Captain America cries a little bit. Need any more reasons?
Go Twins!

hmmmm. about that bullpen
If the Twins actually address the problem early in the season, color me impressed. Their whole philosophy has always seemed to be, "These are nice guys, so stay the course, and they'll come around" or something.
I read the comments. I'm a tool. The highlight was the dude saying the Twins are a veteran starting pitcher away from the World Series, because young pitchers need a veteran to look up to.
I hope Joe C. is right on all accounts and I didn't read the comments. It's just too nice a day this afternoon in St. Paul to foul it up with those clowns.
I throw this stupid 'Cant Win in New York' curse into the fire
lets make that an image not a link
well, made Burnett throw a few pitches that inning
Afternoon, gents.
Afternoon, Meat.
Drank that cider yesterday after some yard work. I liked it, but it was my first ever cider so I have nothing to compare it against and have no idea how to verbalize my thoughts on it other than it was crisp with a little nice tartness.
Dr. Chop likes it very much, and she drinks a ton of cider, so I'll take that as a compliment. The thing is, homebrew cider makers scoff at my practice because its not 11-14% alcohol, but I like my drinks to not knock me on my ass after one so mine is about 4-5%. Good for a hot summer day if i do say so myself.
It wasn't hot by any stretch of the imagination (about 55 - 60 degrees up here) but it definitely hit the spot after landscaping. I may need to try making one of these, I think my fiancee would enjoy them. (she liked yours, gave it a thumbs up.)
boo.
d'oh, meant that for the bottom. /fail
The TNT fellas (fools?) have twice thrown out the Twin's company line and claimed them to have the best defense in the league. That can't possibly be correct, can it?
they have made the fewest errors
I figured that's what they're talking about, because the one guy who's name I always forget (the dude with the heavy-ish east coast accent) is a complete moron. A team with _elmon and Cuddyer at the corners has far fewer chances to make errors, if my logic is correct.
I'm actually pining for the TBS feed right now, but it's blacked out locally. Have I mentioned that the WFTC HD feed is awful? I had no idea Slowey could reach 97 mph with the fastball.
It definitely looks gorgeous, I must say. The sound on the other hand....
Of course, though, the day the Twins are nationally televised in bright, crystal HD, I have engagement pictures.
Well, at least those pictures will last a lifetime?
Sorry. I got nothing.
I just shot under 90 for the first time in my golfing career. I will be damned in the Yankees are going to ruin my day.
If the Yankees are going to ruin my day, that is-- nor will the lack of an edit button.
Was that 18?
I kid, I kid. I think I shot a 92 one time, that was awesome. Hopefully, the Twins can sense your success and will be determined not to let you down.
I shot a 93 on a 9 hole Par 26 course once.
Im very proud of my suckiness that day
*36
Suckiness was still achieved. ;)
this game is just breezing along
Awww...the old Cuddy is back
I think Jeter was out at 2nd...
to me, it looked like he barely got his foot on the base before the tag
At the Boy's suggestion, we've begun calling number two on the Yankees "Cheater." Sometimes it's fun to think like a five-year-old.
Jaun Castro hits a HR for the Dodgers today.oh my
The most surprising thing in that observation is that Juan Castro is still making money to play Major League Baseball.
At least Cuddyer can't bang into a double play here right?
But he can live up to the misspelling of his last name: Kuddyer.
Touche.
Sup Goodfellas.
Barring a doubleplay, we better see Harris hit for Tolbert here.
*sigh*
GARDY'S A GENIUS!
lol...Tolbert, of all people, ends our streak of suck
A Dick-n-Bert special!!1!
Is it just me, or is the visual image of Bert texting anybody almost too much to handle?
Two steps forward, one step back...
Correction: Two steps back. We'll get 'em next inning.
Denard turns into _enar_ Span in Yankee Stadium. Yuck.
Afternoon, gents. Third time through the order, eh?
Cuddyer... :|
Top of the order coming up with bases loaded and only one out. Let's make something happen!!!
We better capitalize on this. I'm going to get angry if Span can't get at least a productive out.
can't fault Span for that
Yeah, very nice play by Tex.
How about a wild pitch right now?
Well that about wraps that one up...
I still say to put Mauer in that second slot. Tolbert and Harris haven't exactly been lights-out.
Dunno. The two hole has been Livan-like in eating batting averages.
The thing is, Gardy wants Span to get on base, use his #2 hitter to bunt him over, and use 3-5 to make some runs. He wants his #2 hitter to be able to bunt well and bunt often. Mauer isn't that guy. Regardless of whether the strategy you propose is good or not, it's not going to happen with Gardenhire at the helm.
Perfect at-bat for Teixeira. He made an out, and his cocky-ass face was only up in my grill for one pitch.
Man I can't stand the Yankees.
Wow. Nice comeback Mijares. Now the inevitable is delayed for one more inning
That was an awful swing. His eyes were literally closed as he went golfing. Funny stuff.
Atta boy, Jose!
I "New Guy" predict another Mauer shot into the monuments.
against Rivera, thats ballsy
In the spirit of New Guy.
About three bases shy of a homerun, Smalls...
Or a couple of innings too early...
Mauer actually hit a ball to left field!
They must install an extra-large home plate when Rivera pitches, since he always seems to have an extra foot of strike zone.
What the hell? LOL
Good God Joe Mauer.
He's a machine.
Whoa! What happened?!?
Groundball up the middle, Mijares reaches behind his back to knock the ball back towards Mauer. Mauer picks the ball up halfway between the plate and the mound, and looks around. Meanwhile, Gardner is hustling home. Mauer sprints back and dives to tag Gardner out.
Very exciting, to say the least.
and Bremer is making it out to be the play of the century...it wasn't quite that amazing
I don't know. We are only nine years into the century.
This has been way too awesome a series to end in a sweep. That would just suck the life out of me. Score some runs, boys.
These two teams are very evenly matched up, I'll say that. We have better starting pitching, they have a better bullpen (at least in this series.)
From a general baseball fan's perspective, these three games have been outstanding.
It wouldn't be a sweep unless they lose tomorrow's game, too...
Oops. Four-gamer. I haven't been looking ahead.
Extra innings two afternoons in a row? Cripes!
Dick: "There's someone standing on the mound, but he hasn't thrown any pitches yet."
Bert: "I think that's Jesse Crain."
Have you ever heard more painful words? Everyone ready for a Crain-wreck?
Punto's really showing off his arm today.
Wow.
Crap o la
I guess this makes up for those Tigers games
Well, I can't mince words: This. Fucking. Sucks.
Three walk off loses in three days? I'm not sure I can handle much more of this.
booooo.
Try as I might, I can't stay mad at Crain for this loss. The Twins couldn't keep the Yankees scoreless for ever, so a little of the blame goes to our offense tonight. We need to find better production out of our two-hole. Tolbert, although he did have one key RBI single, left three runners in scoring position with two outs today.
Why does our bullpen have to epically suck?
1-for-23 with RISP, leaving the bases loaded over and over, losing to the worst possible team in three straight thrillers...unless the Twins pull off a win tomorrow, this is a series I'll definitely never forget. Ugh.
The Twins are always tight when they come to NY. I think I heard today that Gardy has three wins in NY. In eight seasons! That's ridiculous.
Yeah...on second thought, maybe the series will just fade into the background along with all the other mounds of losses the Twins have put up there.
3-22 for Gardy in the Big Apple.
Uh-huh, this town's full of money grabbers
Go ahead, bite the Big Apple, don't mind the maggots, huh
Shadoobie, my brain's been battered
Splattered all over
ManhattanThe Bronxwell a very exciting baseball game again. I figured it was going to be Tex with the game winning HR of Crain, but Damon hasn't bit us in the ass yet this year so I guess it was his turn
we'll get em tommorrow
And when I lie on my pillow at night
I dream I could fight like david watts
Lead the school team to victory
And take my exams and pass the lot
Wish I could be like david watts
(wish I could be)
Conduct my life like david watts
(wish I could be)
I wish I could be like davidwatts
Fa-fa-fa-fa-fa-fa-fa-fa
Your optimism is to be admired.
Sweet clip. I first knew the song by the Jam's cover.
Okay, stat-heads, what is the Twins record for BBs in a series? They've picked up 22(!) from the Yanks so far; more than 7/game!
well, I think its more than 22, because last Aug the Twins had 22 walks in a 3 games series against the Royals, but then I remember a few years back in KC. 2006 to be exact. Aug 3-6 (4 games ) 36 walks including 14 on Aug 5
